    Gerard,

I am also new to this site and a brand new prevost owner. I thought I was ready for this beast having been in the trucking industry most of my life. Not so. I am going thru a steep learning curve. However, nothing is insurmountable. Although the systems look very complex, they are really quite simple if you study the manuals and diagrams. As an example, the level low system appears very complex but really isn’t. After reading Jon’s article on the system and studying the air system diagrams it became very clear how it works (or supposed to) I think I have read every thread on this site at least once. This site is the greatest thing since apple pie !

I was shopping for a late model “plastic” coach when I discover I could buy an older Prevost conversion for about the same money. Having owned several plastic coaches with very poor quality and craftsmenship, buying the older Prevost was a no brainer. We travel with friends that have a new Winnebago Tour. Top of the line. $450K. When we pull into an RV park everyone walks straight to the Prevost and asks a million questions even though its 20 years old and cost one fourth of the Winnebago. Grandkids call it the “Bon Jovi bus”. Although I have had to make some repairs, I still have no buyers remorse. This site will give you all the guidance you need to find the Coach that fits your needs and what to look for to determine condition.

I live in Choctaw,so if you would like to come look at mine and talk bus, your are more than welcome. I am in the process of “zeroing out” the suspension system so you can look at the dirty side as well !

Make sure the coach is right on the day of purchase, or the cost to get it right is built into the buy-price, then likely $5-12k per year maint costs. I can live with that.

After talking to Donnie at AAP, he told me how to restore to factory default setting and it worked.

    1. Push off, then set

    2. Push off, set, fan simultaneously (some numbers will flash)

    3. Push set

    4. Push off

All good now and working thanks to Donnie.. This information is not in the manual unless I missed it.

Jon, there is power downside on breaker. Yes, new batteries, just bought coach, as is, where is, hasn’t been started in 6 months, coach is like new, 50,000 miles, 23 hrs on gen. Battery wiring is correct, took pic before changinging out. First turned switch on, guages lit, tried starter, no sound at all, off, back on, guages did not light again, nothing works, lights, etc. Still has 12 & 24 volts past the initial breakers.

    Jeff,,,power at vanner.

This is not my first Prevost, Had one about 12 yrs ago. I bought this one at a giveaway price, happy with purchase, I know this will be minor when I find trouble, owner says there was nothing wrong when last started, I do believe him.

    Thanks for help so far.

Prevost has used several different compressor, air dryer, and governor set ups in their coaches.

My two previous had compressor mounted governors, my current one has the air dryer governor. I have not yet dug into my current system to figure out it’s inner workings because so far it is working OK. I would urge at this point that you and your mechanic contact Bendix and or Haldex and get their technical people to assist you. Bill Jensen or Robert Hitt from Prevost are the two guys I would also speak to. If you want to study the technical documents the commercial side of the Prevost Car web site has links to their supplier’s manuals here….

    http://prevostparts.volvo.com/technicalpublications/en/manuel.asp

Both you and the mechanic need to be on the phone at the same time so you both can answer questions or ask questions. I am guessing you have the Haldex dryer so you may need to confirm with Prevost how your coach was equipped. I never had the same dryer on any of my 3 coaches.

What I am missing is how the compressor “unloads” when system pressure is satisfied. Why I do not think your compressor has failed is because while its performance might degrade over time, a failure such as a broken rod or a hole in the piston(s) would be evident in the compressor. My guess remains that whatever is “signaling” the compressor to unload and stop pumping is likely the issue.

One of our members had an issue with that and I forget how it was resolved. He also could not build pressure. Maybe if he is reading this he can help.

we have had the German brand installed in our bus for going on 2 years now. In fact, Coach Worx/Parliament installed it and Ben was involved. It is working great and we love it. We also have a porable in the bay as a backup. An induction cooktop is very highly recommended to anyone who does any cooking in the bus! Once you try it, you will throw out the Gaggenau. But do not throw it too far because you can sell it on eBay. I did and I got $175 for it!!!

Al, you need to hurry up and buy a new bus. Then you can go see Tom and have him help you get it all spruced up and ready to go……

    Dean,

On my 01, I think the layout was like yours being a Classic, everything was behind the toilet accessed by removing all the panels surrounding the toilet. You can get a rebuild kit for the flush valve like Jon has suggested. I did that, but my problem ended up being the timer. My symptons were different, very long flushes no matter what adjustment I made to the timer. Suggest you replace timer and button (new style) and rebuild the flush valve. If you replace the timer, button and rebuild the flush valve, there isn’t anything left to go wrong unless one day the flush valve quits running. That’s the great thing about the Headhunters compared to Microphor’s, easily repaired and not real expensive.

Am I missing something here? Sounds like 2 people got the same parts replaced and one paid $5100 and the other paid $800 ?????

I would really like to know if the parts that were replaced were the same and how much of each bill was for labor.

I know I would be very happy to get a new generator end for only $800. But very unhappy if I had to pay $5100 for the same thing.
