So , any thoughts an induction cooktops ?
since we are upgrading our cooking facilities decided to go the induction route….any recommendations, thoughts / concerns ?…

I have one on order, should be here any day. Its supposed to fit exactly in the spot where my Gaggenau is. So far this one seems like the best one out there. It’s a Summit sinc2220. Two burner set up. I ordered it from Global International. I’ll report back when I get it in. I made the mistake of changing our homes to induction stoves and now Wendy is hooked.

Yes, once you have induction you will never want to go back to “cooking with gas” and certainly not archaic electric resistance/IR cooking.
We put induction in our current house and found it far superior to the Wolf gas stove we had in our previous house. Needless to say, induction in the coach was a must. If you currently have 240V cooktop, induction is easy but even if your cooktop is 120V, there are some options that still work well.
We even have a portable induction unit that we use outside on the patio by the BBQ.

We just bought one and installed it and love the instant heat and cool like gas … we have had induction in our house for years and love it.
I ordered mine on Ebay for $199.90 +$49.90 shipping from Germany… It’s very well made and fit exactly like the Gaggenau did.
Carl, SAWBONZ has just ordered one and SEAJET Ron has had one for a year or so from the same guy. The seller is great.

Thanks for all the responses , Rick , I’m looking at the Summit but based on the pictures it appears that it has to be mounted vertically as opposed to horizontally ( parallel to the counter edge ) because of the way the controls are oriented , is that the case with yours?

I keep a portable in the outside bay as well… very handy to have … there is nothing like the induction.

Ditto on the portable in the outside bay……..I do most of my cooking on the grille outside so I set up the induction and I have a complete kitchen out there now….

thanks Diane , so there is no issue using US power supply! I spoke to Ben at Coachworx and he pointed out it operates at 50 hertz which isn’t exactly compatible ( I think ) with US power supply. He said if there was a problem it would manifest itself in the controls or timer not working exactly right.

What induction model is everyone buying/using for their outdoor cooking needs? I know is a portable one but just curious which brand and model.

I emailed the seller and he assured me that it is 50/60HZ compatible… mine works flawlessly.. you can email SEAJET and he will tell you his works perfectly also. Not sure if Carl SAWBONZ got his installed before he left.

Mine is Vertically mounted, with the controls at the bottom thats the way my Gaggenau is mounted and configured. Hopefully I’ll have it in a few days so I can report back on the installation.

Not installed yet, Diane. I don’t think it has made it to my house yet, but hopefully in time for Natalie to ship it up and I can put it in whhile on the road.

we have had the German brand installed in our bus for going on 2 years now. In fact, Coach Worx/Parliament installed it and Ben was involved. It is working great and we love it. We also have a porable in the bay as a backup. An induction cooktop is very highly recommended to anyone who does any cooking in the bus! Once you try it, you will throw out the Gaggenau. But do not throw it too far because you can sell it on eBay. I did and I got $175 for it!!!
