Konis on the front. Leave them on the factory setting. They made a HUGE difference. My coach would porpuse up and down terribly on bumps until I put the Konis on.

Some mths later I put OEM(Monroes) from Prevost on the rear and the ride remained good.

Even if all goes well with winterization process a marathon with batteries shut off could have failure with internal battery in the tech link computer, causing failure requiring you to send the unit back to marathon….Many things to consider when talking about a coach being left unplugged for any period of time…..

I’m not the person to say something is wrong with bashing a $600 cell phone against a defective switch.

I think triuple F is on the right track and I would go so far as part of the pre-trip inspections everybody should try fixing their hammers by smacking them with their smart phones. Repeatedly. And if the phone seems to appear damaged, try smacking the phone with the tire iron. I understand that is the best way to fix one.

Has anyone mentioned how I feel about the use of phones in the bus while driving?

I hope I properly described everything. Both primary
and secondary gauges showed a very steady 120 psi. I did not have the
tag axel lift lever actuated – I never use it.
I guess there is a possibility that my 3 year old may have flipped it
while we were on our 4 week outing, but my guess is that I would have noticed. Is
it possible the lever was actuated and I never knew it? No warning light or audio alarm. One
additional unmentioned condition was my aux air compressor would not shut-off,
even after the primary and secondary was at 120 psi. I was going to troubleshoot that after I
solved the front end height problem. Replacing
the tag lift chamber also solved the aux air issue. I guess I was so happy about finding and
fixing the leak that I never considered what you are mentioning, Jon.

I will ask Jeff to please chime in and verify all my facts.

I got mine at a Detroit shop, only thing I had to give them, was the motor serial # which is located on the back of the bus, along with the date of the chassis, or at least mine is.

I’m not around my bus, or I would give you the part number.

I keep a JEFF’S LIST in my notes on my phone and keep adding things !!

Just waiting to get the okay from Jeff and discuss a few things we need done.

    Cheers, Diane

Can I clarify something Jon mentioned …

If when buying a Prevost, can you take the bus to a Prevost dealer to conduct an engine & trans analysis or, must you find a Detroit & Allison dealer? I understand Prevost won’t do any serious work on the engine or trans, but do they have the equipment to conduct a thorough analysis?

If Prevost can’t do this, why would you take the coach to a Prevost dealer prior to a purchase, other than to check out the panels (XLII) for delam issues?

Trying to remember to check for AUX air leaks inside the bus and putting it off time and time again.

When I read on a PC post that the air pistons and connections for the bed lift are notorious for AUX leaks. Both

pistons had been replaced as part of leak repairs by Marathon. Wednesday I had several little things to do inside

the bus. Raising the bed I used the electronic detector passing it over the top air line at the 90 degree fitting. Bingo

the meter goes into the red, The air line did not seal pushed into the fitting connection. Trimming 1/4 inch off the

line I re-attached the line. It still leaked not as bad but a leak is a leak. Bottom line replacing the connector fitting

with a brand new one solved the problem.

With this repair the overnight AUX air leak down test was now minus 4 LBS.

This is amazing! haha… Some guy I have never met tells me to “Park the damn bus until you get it fixed so it is safe to be on the road.” and everyone here is now going on the assumption that my bus is falling apart! Let me ask ya’ll and see what you say – what’s wrong with my brakes? The answer is NOTHING! I had a chamber go out! A chamber that was already serviced back in January! Then the guy misrouted a hose and it rubbed a hole in it! Why does that make my bus at fault? I have complained about the shop I use not getting to work that I want done. Most of that is stuff inside the bus! The list that I had for them to go over was mostly stuff inside the bus. Other than that, I wanted them to check over the bus as a preventative measure prior to my long trip. Nothing on the list made my bus dangerous in any way!!! I just told ya’ll that a guy who drives for a big leasing company here in Nashville went with me on this trip and continually bragged about how my bus was better than any bus in their fleet of much newer XLIIs! So why does everyone keep insisting that my bus is unsafe?!? Because ya’ll are some closed society that will always defend each other apparently. Mark was an ass and made incorrect assumptions, but instead of saying that, ya’ll say “he is blunt and could have worded things better”. No! He is wrong! And watching ya’ll defend him and continue to pile on my bus as if it is some rolling piece of scrap just proves to me that I have no place here. To answer the final question… Yes, my bus passes inspection fine! Do ya’ll really think I would take off to the farthest corners of this country in a bus that wasn’t ready for it? It could be financially, as well as physically, ruinous for me! That’s why it’s so hilarious to watch ya’ll jump on the side of Mark, who knows NOTHING about me, my bus, or anything else. It doesn’t matter one iota that he has owned a trucking company! Does that somehow make him magically be able to inspect my bus for thousands of miles away? No, of course not! So WHY has every one of you jumped to the conclusion that my bus is unsafe, just because this &@$? person made some rude and uninformed comment? And then no matter how many times I set the record straight, ya’ll continue to go as if his statement is somehow correct.

Tom, I enjoyed meeting you and Nancy. I have a lot of respect for you.. But just because you saw my bus a year ago at Jeff’s doesn’t make you anymore informed about the condition than Mark is. I’ve spent a year going over that bus. I’ve probably out 75-80k miles on it since you’ve seen it. I wasn’t at Jeff’s for anything major mechanical then. It was conversion stuff, like the windshield. It was a great bus then, and even better now.

Jon, I’ve never met you. Always wanted to. You know an awful lot about Prevost buses. You’ve been helpful with advice in my time here (mostly with conversion problems and not major mechanical issues).

And I’ve made a lot of other friends here to. Some I’ve met, others I haven’t yet. The issue now is, no matter how ya’ll try to say it is just being helpful, you are all joining in with a guy who is saying my bus is unsafe junk. Imagine how frustrating it is for me to repeatedly say that he has no idea what he his talking about, but then come back and read again how he’s just blunt but right! I hope this thread is instruction. Not because of the importance of repairs (since my bus is in great shape mechanically!), but in the way people get treated on this forum of they aren’t part of the right clicque. Yes, some of ya’ll have been helpful, but this thread has been ridiculous! I’m sure ya’ll will read this and say “what’s wrong with that guy?” since obviously it’s not in the realm of possibility to admit that Mark was wrong in his comments. But whether ya’ll admit it or not, he was.

    And with that, I’m done.

T&C, you have just recently started the hunt. It could be long and ardorous, but don’t give up. It’s worth it. Chased our first bus for over 7 mos. and the current one fell in our laps….you never know. One thing you have going for you is this great site, an advantage we didn’t have a couple of years ago with the exception of a few people on another site. Mainly Jon and Truk. Geo.

We just registered for the seminar. Now I just have one question: If we don’t have our coach sold yet, can our sticks and staples plastic coach be seen anywhere near the rest of attendees?

    Thanks Mike, good to know.

There has to be something better out there……

Like Peter suggested, when the time comes, change over to Magnums and RC/GS remote panels that autostart the generator….but that is a $4000 solution……need something better and now.
