Koni or prevost shocks?
I am about to replace the shocks on my Prevost 1991 XL40. Question is do I use prevost shocks or Koni’s. I would think Koni’s on the front for sure but what about the rear? Mileage or longivity is not an issue since I don’t put many miles on the coach. It boils down to ride. Thanks gents.

Whatever Prevost supplies as OEM is adequate. The Koni owners with vastly more sensitive seat of the pants feelings will disagree.

I did the oem shocks on my XLII and thought they were fine. I just had my H3 done at Jeff’s and this time I did Koni on the steer axle, on oem on the rest.
I feel that the Koni does help on some of the sharper bumps. They also seem to stop rebounds slightly better.
Bottom line, use whatever suits you.

Konis on the front. Leave them on the factory setting. They made a HUGE difference. My coach would porpuse up and down terribly on bumps until I put the Konis on.
Some mths later I put OEM(Monroes) from Prevost on the rear and the ride remained good.

My previous two Prevo’s had OEM. My current bus has koni all the way arround and I love em. And I would use koni again.

Koni’s on mine front and rear…………new sway bar bushings front and rear, installed by ETLC, doesn’t feel top heavy on turns any more!

Good choice installing Koni at least on the front axle.. Built for our heavy duty front ends.
Adding a extra item to a superior ride would be a set of Centramatics balancers. Never to worry about throwing a wheel balance weight it will balance all rotating parts, tire , rim, brake rotor with zero maintenance of re-balancing.

I put Koni shocks on the front first and the coach felt out of sinc from front to rear so I purchased Koni shocks for the rear and installed them,the best thing I have done for my coach as far as how it drives.I have mine set in the stiff position.

I have them on the steer and drive , yellow OEM on the tag they seem to ride better than the OEM ones , with all the miles I put on my last coach had 315s and this one has 365s they make noise going over the cracks in the road it seemed to help just a little might just be me thinking it does

Koni web site… Shipped at lowest setting, soft. There are 5 settings to adjust increasing firmness.Have tried all 5 and my choice is soft as shipped. Koni shocks and Centramatic balancers on the front axle and you have the best of the best.
100,000 mile warranty and about the only thing that can go wrong is fluid leak.

Koni’s on the front in January, OEM on drive and tag at same time. OEMs were on the coach. Improved the ride and reduced the bounce. We’re happy.

I know that I’m late to the party on the shock discussion, but When we picked up our new machine 2002 Royale S2
the records show that Prevost had replaced all shocks 27000 miles ago. During our trip this summer the front end bounce was so bad I had to slow down on many roads. I ordered a set of fronts from Prevost and had them shipped to where we were going to be for a few days. They shipped the wrong shocks. While under the coach I ID’d the shocks as Gaberial 85330. I decided to go with a set of Monroe 65472 yellow gas shocks from the nice folks at Stengelbros.net. They deal in HD foundation parts for trucks among other things. If you go that rout you should order the lower rubber bushings fom Prevost ( I didnt )
