Route to Michigan
Posted by Cathy & John on July 28, 2015 at 9:14 pmWe’re working on planning our trip to the Marathon Pre-rally prior to Quebec in Petosky, MI. Having never RV’d that far east, we’re concerned about low clearances. Does anyone have an app or book that they can recommend? I’ve seen http://www.lowclearances.com which is relatively inexpensive, but I don’t know if it’s worth it.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

If you stick to main routes you will not encounter low clearances or bridge weight limits. All interstates have ample clearances.
The vast majority of low clearances or bridge weight limits are going to be found in the New England states but on main roads even there you will be OK.
If you are really concerned a truckers Atlas will have truck routes highlighted, along with listings of weight and height limits.

Hey guys,
I’ll echo Jon. The only problem we’ve ever had outside of New England was in Chattanooga, and that was solved by a swift turn through a parking lot.
Michigan is wide open.
I have height programmed into my Rand McNally GPS and have never gotten a warning.

Michigan, watch couple low clearance bridges on I94 by Jackson, around 13.5 ft…

Mark and Kristi,
How tall is your Liberty?
I noticed in our manual is says that we are 13’6″ if we have the satellite dome (we do). I thought it was supposed to be 13’4″. I need to measure.
Safe travels,
Mark

these 3 bridges were the only one I touched on my drive from Oregon. Gerard and CB antenna on top. Good luck. I am avoiding the area.!

Don’t worry John I drive all over the country and never a problem just drove from Winnipeg MB to Ann Arbor on i94 it’s good to go all the way , then up 23 to 75 to M32 then up to Bay Harbor no problems what so ever all good , no low bridges

I use 13′ 6″. I won’t even think about trying anything less. I have not done an actual measurement yet either, but It is close enough I won’t risk it.

I’m sorry, Ted, but I don’t remember where it is. I can still see it in my head though!
