A/C dash air fan
Today on a road test the dash air fan speed began slowing from the second position then speed up. All works fine, constant speed. A minute later begins slowing again, then increase back to set speed.
Any ideas or experience with this strange mind of its own dash fan speed control ?

The only thing I can come up with is either bearing developing trouble or fluctuations in voltage or a developing problem with the brushes unless it is a brushless motor.

Where was the ground location ?

My coach does the exact same thing. I find that if I tap the right side of the dash air controller with something solid, my iPhone seems to work best, the fan speed resumes its normal speed…until I hit another sizable bump. Then I have to tap it again. Glad to hear it might be a loose ground. Was thinking I was just on borrowed time with the controller.

Let me see if I have this correct. If the dash air falters tap the $23 switch with a $600 iPhone and it works for a while…Got it! :<)

This worked for me. Remove the switch from the dash. Spray it with electronic parts cleaner while rotating the switch. Repeat this a couple of times.

I’m not the person to say something is wrong with bashing a $600 cell phone against a defective switch.
I think triuple F is on the right track and I would go so far as part of the pre-trip inspections everybody should try fixing their hammers by smacking them with their smart phones. Repeatedly. And if the phone seems to appear damaged, try smacking the phone with the tire iron. I understand that is the best way to fix one.
Has anyone mentioned how I feel about the use of phones in the bus while driving?
