    Interesting.

    If performance is bad, and cost to maintain is high, why does the industry continue to offer them and why do people continue to buy? Aside from the benefit of less noise and no holes in the roof, is there any scenario where they have a clear performance advantage?

    I didn’t have anything newer than a 2002 with cruiseairs, but everyone was good until summer came and once temps got in the 90’s cruisairs were a PIA. High temp when going down the road shutting off, shut downs due to crappy campground 50 amp due to high start amperage and lack of support when trying to get one repaired while traveling, not to mention parts shortages. One trip in OK City, high 90’s, I was down to 1 A/C out of 4 that hi temped and had to spray water under the bus to keep that one going. Once I got my 04 Marathon with roof airs, it was a different world.

    if you have 20 year old cruiseairs, the solution is to do what Jon did, just go to AAP and have them all replaced. Problem is now, parts, new and rebuilt units are hard to come by. They were made for boats and water cooling, enough said.

    I cant answer your question exactly, what i run in mine is Total Full Synthetic 75/90, same as rear axle, my rear axle temp runs approx 10 deg cooler than with 80/90 gear oil

    I change my superior g/box oil annually, seems to run well with the Total Synthetic

    On another Prevost orientated venue, one of the guys posted that the tires should be parked on “pads” even if the coach is parked on concrete. He argued that expensive corporate aircraft are parked on special pads even when in hangars on fancy coated concrete. Apparently the “pads” are better for the tires than concrete.

    Anyone have experience with putting tires on special pads?

    Who in the world told you there’s 10mm of clear on a bus.

    6mm =1/4 inch

    10mm =3/8 of a inch

    Clear is measured in microns

    You could try to put some hydraulic oil in the 1/4 air line that opens ram and cycle it a couple of times, the piston rubber ring may be dry. On my Royale I can see ram under step because it drops in front, Yours doesn’t, Does the step riser under slide come apart? Sense that I rebuilt ram, But I also Installed Norgren 3 port valve to ram so it gets activated when level low is in drive mode when parked or key off no air to step ram.

    Purchasing a 2003 Liberty Lady Classic (non-slide).

    Our coach has a breakfast bar (so, it doesn’t necessitate slides for a dinette or J-lounge) and we are installing a 2nd Euro recliner to use both as bar stools and as media chairs! The stateroom runs North/South, so we can easily get around to make the bed.

    We have known Austin, Bobby, Brad, Terry, et al. at Olympia for nearly a year and have witnessed dozens of the coaches they Zeroed out and delivered. Short of spending $2.5 – $3M for a brand new (Liberty, Marathon, Millennium, , etc.), I do not believe there is a dealership that does anywhere near the extent of total gutting, redesign/remodeling; chassis, brake chambers, Independent front suspension, mechanical, electrical/Audio/visual, air/water systems, etc. total services!
    They also work directly and have a great synergetic relationship with Prevost Nashville for delamination checks on XLII’s, all three axles/wheels alignments and new tire balancing!

    The technical, mechanical, electrical/AV/WiFi/Internet/Satellite, carpentry, tooling & plumbing craftsmanship, experience and expertise their teams bring to remodeling your Coach will be 2nd to none!

    I can say without hesitation that when we take delivery next week we will have the “2021 most” 2003 Coach on the road…Thanks to the impeccable workmanship and Midwest work ethic of Olympia Luxury Motorcoach.

    Will recommend them without reservation; and we intend to stop off at Olympia on our Western “destination” trips from Naples, FL to Indio, CA for ongoing annual Level III services to the DD60, 20Kw Koehler generator and Webasto systems.

    These are great people who stand behind their product – and they know these Coaches!

    The only downside: you will need to be patient and persistent with your phone inquiries or texts. Demand for their services sometimes outpaces their ability to respond immediately. It’s not that they don’t want to or, that it should be taken personally…they could probably just use more help to answer calls/inquiries – even if it was just to have someone take your info and let you know they WILL get back to you…because, they will.

    I cut these guys some slack. They are there early, often working past 9 pm and most weekends! Their families and adorable baby daughters often have to come by the place…to happily drag them home!
    What can you say? They’re workaholics, who Love what they do!

    The tank access gives very little access.

    I have determined that generator and aqua hot feed off a common tank outlet with a tee to each. The return line from aqua hot I have determined it location on main tank. trying to determine generator return location. The hosed are like spaghetti on top of the twp tanks. Surprisingly the generator supply goes toward the rear of coach and the generator is located in the next bay forward of the fuel tanks.

    Anyone got info on how the lines are routed in the fuel compartment.

    Must of had a trunk monkey to crawl in small space and connect the hoses.

    May 13, 2021 at 8:51 am in reply to: Clean sheet design: inverters, batteries, etc.

    My only concerns are any expectation of running A/C units powered through inverters. First unless an entire bay is filled with batteries the available run time is measured in hours. They draw down batteries quickly.

    But Inverter Services during our seminars urges owners to avoid the use of inverters to power loads like A/C units because newer inverters do not hold up well under the loads imposed.

    Since it sounds as though you are committed to update your house electrical system your coach can do nicely as a result of its relative simplicity dry camping with a decent set of batteries. It will do amazingly well with LiFePo4 batteries. But it all comes down to economics. If you do the math it will tell you if the cost of Li is justified compared to conventional batteries and the generator run time and expense.

    Under all typical loads that make sense for a generator, including A/Cs, water heater, battery charging, etc you can plan on 1/2 gallon per hour or less fuel burn. That’s a pretty cheap cost to be able to live large and not worry about managing or conserving power.

    I am an advocate of Li power because my batteries not only saved me about 400 to 500 pounds, but I get far more usable hours from them compared to their equivalent AGM which means if you do go that route you can run your generator less. The only problem is by my calculations the economic payback only began after 10 years of use, making them a poor investment.

    Your plan sounds very reasonable and if I were to do what you are doing I would run the generator any time I wanted to carry heavier electric loads and I would run every A/C and keep the entire coach comfortable.

    No. I’m on my 5th tag axle coach and I never raise the tag. I do a sharp 90* turn turn, forwards and backwards, in and out of our driveway every time we come and go. Never had a problem with anything.

    That’s different, my switches are beside the co-pilot seat. I wonder why they changed the position from there to the post where yours are mounted.
