Our 1999 Liberty (1998 chassis) has a stainless steel holding tank, at least that is what Jeff told me when Peter standing next to him at Eastern Tennessee Luxury Coach in January.

For the life of me, I don’t understand why a coach/motorhome builder would install separate grey/black tanks. The only reason I can think of is having a separate grey water tank gives the owner the ability to possibily “dump” the grey water separately without needing to dump it in a sewer of some kind. But in my eyes it takes up additional room in the bay, additional plumbing to separate the two, more weight for the additional panels, more seams to leak, etc.

Give Microphor a call to find out where there is a reliable Microphor repair center. They shoiuld know selling parts to them. The Microphor people are very helpful.

This sounds like our Prevost. Original owner kept it inside its entire life. Second owner had it from December (2013) to April (2014) when we bought it (long story), kept it in the original owners bus barn, and we don’t think he ever used it. Fortunately it was located only 18 miles from Jeff Rowe’s Eastern Tennesse Luxury Coach. There were NO maintenance records whatsoever. Just dates/mileage/hours on the oil and fuel filters. Third party helping to facilitate the transaction found out it had been Buddy Gregg’s in Knoxville as well as a truck shop in northern Indiana and had a trip to Liberty in North Chicago within the last few years. We got a little information from them, but nothing of signficance had been done on the coach. Jeff Rowe did a prepurchase inspection for us.

The coach was clean, bright, shiny, and most everything worked appeared to work. Original owner had told me he had a cracker jack electrical/mechanical guy take care of the coach for him and he always took care of everything on it. Everything is “up to date”. Coach had about 70,000 miles on it. A low mlieage dream coach … right?

A naive, uninformed buyer would likely have paid top dollar for the coach. After talking to George Prentice, Jon Wehrenberg, and relying on Jeff Rowe’s expert advice and counsel I negotiated aggressively and wouldn’t budge. Seller (second owner) wouldn’t budge on his big price. We walked away from the coach and started looking at others on the market.

The third party trying to faciliate the deal called about six weeks later and I still was agressive. Agreed on a reasonable price, had it taken to Jeff Rowe’s (only 18 miles) so it could be lifted and Jeff look for surprises underneath. Deal closed.

That was eight tires, nine batteries, new shocks, fluids, bags, valves, etc. all axle alignment, and about $38,000 ago. We still have the TVs to upgrade. We’re happy with the purchase and we’ve had little in the way of surprises along the way that we didn’t anticipate or couldn’t handle with Jeff’s assistance.

“Drinking from a fire hose” is the perfect cliche’ to use to describe the process you need to get from where you were before your joined the PC Forum and where you’ll be six months after you buy your first Prevost.

During the down turn in the economy the converters went from converting around 150-175 a year to less than 50 with several converters going bankrupt or being sold.This situation creates very few coaches after 2008,it does not appear that the remaining converters will convert more than 50 this year,so the shortage will continue for several more years.Those of us that have found the right coach are not willing to sell them,especially when it might take months to find another coach.All of the converters are bragging that they are selling all that they can convert,well with 1/3 of the new ones that are now available compared to pre recession they should be able to find 50 willing customers in a country with 300,000,000 people.

Me too, the black flush won’t take water. There must be a check valve to prevent back flow and I think that is the problem. I’ll be taking it all apart when I get home, but hopefully someone with a Marathon has already done this and can give us some pointers.

Thank you, but it is the valances above the windows that we are having problems with you. I would post a picture, but so far haven’t been able to figure that out either!

Thanks for all the help. Have been out of town off and on for several weeks. Called Marathon and they pointed me to the computer under the bed. They said to unplug it and reboot. If that did not fix it I could send it back to be replaced or rebuilt for $1000+. Did the reboot, no help. Then for kicks I tapped on the hard drive cover sharply, plugged it back in and it worked fine. HD probably close to going but Marathon suggested using it till it dies since it is so expensive to fix and i might not have another problem. Marathon also said this was a common problem with the system from the late 2000s. Also found the computer was not fastened down securely so vibration probably has contributed to the problem.

I cannot find out how much, if it is off cash or credit price, it we can swipe and go, what locations offer discounts, how billing works, etc.

I never flew professionally, but flew extensively for business purposes.

ATP, sold my plane a P210 a few years back and will no longer fly.
