I just replaced mine and gave up after spending too much time on the internet seeing if there was a better source than Prevost.

All inverters have internal fans, but depending on where and how they are located the converter may have provided additional fans to introduce fresh air to the inverters.

I would guess both Jim and Tom are correct and how the supplemental fans are wired is coach specific.

Jon and Tom….Thinking about that 4000 member roster. What a business opportunity to sell PC plates! But alas, I don’t know how to get even one! A great chance to supplement your dues income is being missed.

Success. You know I had no idea that the inverters had to be off and to only rely on the remotes. To be perfectly honest this is the first time I have used the inverters…..still learning at 61 years old. Thanks Jeff.

In my coach coach the motorized blinds do not not operate at the same speeds. If you have a blind that operates slowly it could be the gears at either end of the motor require a bit of lube. But it could be the motor itself with the stator, rotor and or brushes needing inspection and cleaning as these areas can carbon up. The motor is a PIA to remove, but once removed it can be worked on by an electric shop. These motors or at least the ones for my vintage (2000) appear to be nonexistent in the market…..at least when I did a search for them. Good luck.

    Davy,

This past year I dry camped several times, once longer than a week. But while I am perfectly willing to run my generator 24/7 I don’t like to let it run lightly loaded so in that case I reset my charging current to 30 per inverter.

I generally turn it off if we are not in the coach or at night, and I manually start it for charging the batteries when my batteries get to around 24.5 to 24.8. When the generator is running I also try to load it with A/C units or whatever other loads I want. I just do not want to abuse my batteries with the deep discharge my auto-start is set for.

BTW, I only have 4 8D’s and I easily go through the night with some lights on, the refrigerator, aux compressor, etc.

So my method makes me pay attention and is a little work keeping track of things, but the last thing I want to deal with is nursing a set of batteries. At 5 years, regardless of how well they are performing I replace them.

    Jeff,

There are two seams on the roof of the slide. This is the one closest to the front of the coach. The second seam is still intact. I want to come to you to have this professionally repaired. I am working full time, so it will be awhile until I can come see you. In the interim, could I pack the seam with flex seal? I don’t want to do anything that will make the repair more difficult down the line.

Our first bus had two slide outs, the second had three, and our current one has four and I doubt we would ever go backwards from there. We get so much extra room inside while parked it makes the coach feel more comfortable. I have had to get at least one slide out adjusted on each bus after taking delivery, but as of yet, no seals have leaked. We have all Prevost slide outs.

    Hi Andy,

I don’t see it as shooting the messenger, I see it as the messenger or the message are not necessarily right! I hear the messenger saying “It’s new technology and that makes it right”! And that’s just wrong!

I’m not the only guy who has used a quick burst of speed to get me out of a bad situation. Now you’re telling me “tough, you have an accident because some moron with his $130 sneakers up on the desk is telling us” you ain’t going over x speed”! And like lemmings we go along with it? I call that insanity and turning your life over to the sneaker guy! Everyone who thinks it will stop there take one step forward. Ideally while looking over a 5000 ft cliff. Come on Andy what are you willing to give up for the beloved technology?

I yield the balance of my time to Jon who’s post just above mine is as good as it gets!

Our electrical systems do get shut down. Any time batteries are replaced the coach or portions of the coach are shut down.

Assuming freezing or environmental concerns are not a consideration follow the procedure your converter calls for putting the coach to sleep. Depending on the length of the shut down all you have to be concerned about is if the house and or chassis batteries need an occasional recharge.

If the coach is stored outdoors and it has slide seals that must be inflated to prevent water damage then the coach cannot be shut down.

    Hi,

Is the PC Advantage going to be a part of FMCA or a stand alone deal. If so will it be better than the FMCA program?

    Looking to buy soon

Hi Jim, My policy is also through Progressive and Miller insurance. I didn’t know there’s a specific number of years where the rate stays the same? Is it stated somewhere on my policy and/or unique to Progressive?

Are we all talking about the TX Class B (non-CDL) license? There certainly is a large variations of experiences with this test. No one ever mentioned anything about air brakes, we didn’t have to park and the test drive lasted maybe 20 minutes max. Maybe the driving test is location dependant but the written test should be the same and there were only 15-20 questions and none had any brake related or CDL related topics.

I did my driving test in Bryan/College Station and a couple of weeks earlier the written test was in Livingston, TX right after getting the RV registered there.
