Window motors
I notice my coach (2002 xl ll liberty) has weak or useless window motors. My choice would be to make them manual and to hell with the motor. Has anyone crossed this bridge before?

In my coach coach the motorized blinds do not not operate at the same speeds. If you have a blind that operates slowly it could be the gears at either end of the motor require a bit of lube. But it could be the motor itself with the stator, rotor and or brushes needing inspection and cleaning as these areas can carbon up. The motor is a PIA to remove, but once removed it can be worked on by an electric shop. These motors or at least the ones for my vintage (2000) appear to be nonexistent in the market…..at least when I did a search for them. Good luck.

I am assuming that you refer to the motors which open and close the awning style windows in the XLII.
3 of the 5 we have in our bus no longer work, either. When you press the open button, they unlock and make a weak attempt at opening all the way before falling close again.
I have been going outside to open them by hand for several years and gotten used to it.
Another reason for getting used to it is the cost of replacing them. There are 2 Swiss companies who make these motors for Prevost and the SKU is a Prevost specific number. So … the Swiss manufacturer does not talk to you and refers you to their US distributor/branch.
Prevost Canada will quote you about $900 per motor.
Several years ago, I obtained a quote from the US distributor, then located in Clearwater, FL, and they quoted me about $600 per motor with a 3 months lead time!
I am still opening windows by hand … 🙂

I have one I have to help to start it by giving it a little push works for me.

A couple years ago I gave you guys a work around on this.
When you remove the bottom inside cover from the window there lies the motor.
Attached to the motor is a resistor that limits voltage to the motor. It is covered in black heat shrink with 2 wires attached. Get a 2 amp fuse and cut it in.
This has fixed 99% of slow window motors for 2000 to around 08 chassis.
Think about how often you use the window motor, they rarely burn out.

Yes Sir, cut in a blade fuse at 2amp is fine.
