Hi Andy, RE: “I’ll be the first to agree that “Controversial” is an understatement. But if you’re a parent of a teenager, would a vehicle with these features be something that you would find desirable? How about if the inclusion of these features came with a lower insurance premium?”

I love my kids (although two of them are up for sale) and I bought them up to be upright, respectful of old people like Jon and Tom. And to do what’s right even when it hurts a little. So NO, I do not want my daughter videoed when she’s kissing her boyfriend good night. And someone filming her I’d hunt down and see how much of ranger training I remember. As for it saving me insurance… I’ll pay extra!

Andy do you really believe that they will simply turn the camera off? Could you keep your doctor and your insurance? Look, I understand technology as a good part of my life has been in the database/web business. But it’s a tool to be owned and operated by us. We’re the owners of not only our vehicles but who we are as Americans with a free will.

All these high technology experts say the same things “Oh it will make your life so much more gooder” and no they are not quite that eloquent, but is that right? Or is it code for we will decide what’s best for you and you fall in line and shut up. We know what’s more gooder! See there’s that eloquence thing again.

Sorry Andy, you I like, but I’ll go real slow on this other stuff. And no Volvo in my garage. I will however send them an 8×10 glossy of my hindquarters!

Next thing you know Jon and Tom will want to have direct debit from our checking accounts for dues! Wow that one gave me goosebumps!

The problem with all this stuff is it seems the people pushing it have no street creed, no bonafide, all theory.

Didn’t know a Newall from a Bulldozer a couple years ago.

Just a theory of mine, what happens when a pheasant or a bird takes out a camera or 2 in the middle of the night.

We arrived during the stacker trailer retrieval and I have to say that Ronald was ‘cool as a cucumber’. I would have been inconsolable or I WILL be inconsolable when something like that happens. It’s only a matter of time.

Ronald, it was great talking to you and Gabi yesterday. Safe travels.

Have you seen the Country Coach for sale in Auburn, CA? Looks like a nice one.

Check out Craigslist Sacramento, there is a listing for it.

    I bought a 2000 Liberty (sticker new about $1.2M) with 47,000 miles in 2006 for $440K.

In my opinion, based on comparable sales, I paid about 10% too much and I knew it at the time.

But here’s the kicker…I LOVE the coach. In the grand scheme of things, isn’t that worth it?

In response to Jon’s comments above:

Your point is well taken, and maybe I’m being too hard on Prevost. It’s always easy to second guess, and as a product design engineer for one of the largest (the largest? You can guess who that might be!) consumer product companies, I know first hand how challenging issues like this can be.

I will say this: I’ve had extensive experience with adhesives (granted, on much smaller parts), and I know just how tricky it is to get consistent results. In one instance we were ramping a product for production, and without warning the glue bonds started to fail, with no obvious cause. After careful analysis we discovered that the change in humidity from winter to summer in China (where it was being manufactured) caused the 2-part acrylic adhesive to fail. In another instance, we found the glue was not being stored at the correct temperature, which also caused failures. From lessons learned, I avoid glue like the plague. Given a choice, I would always opt for tape, and this application seems ideal (large, flat surfaces, and dynamic loads).

With the limited knowledge of the issue, VHB double sided tape would be one of the first things I’d look at. Granted, the assembly process, and fixturing required is a lot more involved and costly. But I’d have to ask the question; how much has this cost, and how much has it hurt Prevost reputation?

Regarding the H3 not having the same issues, there are a number of potential reasons, from interaction of the glue to the plastic (verses stainless steel), to modulus of the panel itself (I’m guessing the composite panel is less stiff… but just a guess). Like I said, gluing is a very tricky process.

Congrads Buddy, don’t forget to stop in KC in your travels.

Instead of parking at the bus barn lot—you can park at my home now.

Dan what are you and the Redhead doing off the farm, don’t you have some work to do. You can earn more dues money that way.
