We agree it is a great place to stay in the Memphis area.

It always seems to be busy. Try to book ahead several days. They have some paved sites which does cut down the dust inside the bus.

    Congrats on the new Liberty!

I have noticed in the last year or so Liberty has adopted the CPO term for their coaches inside 10 years old. I dont know that the term “CPO” they are using could make me feel any better about buying a coach from them!

We purchased our coach from them WAY outside the CPO range and took delivery on it after they worked their magic. Everything was perfect. Everything looked like it was new. All the PDI work had been completed. And everything worked the way it should when it was new. I was invited to stay as long as I liked to get comfortable with the coach and was offered cell phone numbers to every last person that worked there in case a question arose.

Bottom line, good call on buying a Liberty from Liberty; we sure could not have been happier and would do it all over again in a minute.

As for the holding tank, keep it washed out after use and take care of it. I would think you will get a long and usefull life out of one that has been cared for. I am still running the original aluminum tank on ours. Yes, if it does become compromised in the future, I will swap it with a SS tank. Until then, enjoy!

P.S. The Liberty Rallies alone are worth the purchase!

    Jeff,

Congratulations. History has shown that it will likely take several months to remove the grin.

As you describe the process you are getting a coach that has been zeroed out with respect to fluids, filters, etc. Use that starting point for your maintenance program and document what has been done from that point on, and use that record to schedule future maintenance events. If you keep up with maintenance you will have a very enjoyable coach.

The tank topic has been beaten to death, but keep in mind that because it is not a problem today that does not mean it is going to be OK tomorrow. Be vigilant.

All of our coaches are subject to the ravages of age. While there is no hard and fast rule about the life of certain components keep in mind that age does have an impact on components that are rubber or rely on rubber to function. Among the items affected are air bags, brake chambers, and Norgren valves for example. If and when you see clues they are starting to show their age, have a plan to address those issues.

Hope to see you at rallies.

    MK,

Just as a P.S., my friend says he got good support from the dealership with what they could help with, the support he got from Featherlite has been poor at best. As previously mentioned by another poster, you may want to consider a coach with better factory support.

    Jeff,

That’s a good question, but I don’t have an answer at the moment. We have never used the Webasto heating system shortly after running the engine. I’ll try to find an answer in the manuals and get back to you.

Bought a brand new 2006 Alpha 35 footer with slides all over right before I bought my 91 XL. . Heck even had ceiling fans while building the Ranch house that i sold . Stayed in it until we got the place built and sold it and lost a ton of money. They for sure don’t hold the value and lost about $15,000 on that deal. Did like it as it was top of the line then, but pulling it with a Dodge Dually Quab Cab 4×4 Diesel was a pita as that 5.9 Cummins really got a work out. If you get one with all the slides I would go a little bigger truck. They are less expensive to maintain compared to your bus. Hope you have a place to store out of weather as that will kill them quick.

    Tom,

Do you know if the new pressure pro will display on a multi media device that has bluetooth? Is there any addition info on the system and release date? I am looking forward to getting one of these from you. Thanks. Jeff

Hi Jon, I understand I can have the book auto signed but that’s like seeing you with an iPhone… Just so wrong on so many levels! But I’ll be delighted to sign it in person and would make that happen.

And Jon, I’m not at all sure of the “quickie” of which you speak? Although I did order a quickie once and wow did the waitress get mad… I found that’s not how you say quiche! surprised

I have been called anal with regard to worrying if I have double checked everything at the 5000 mile service intervals and my pre-trip inspections.

But I can say with confidence I have had roadside problems unrelated to things I inspect prior to a trip or during normal service. Some were the things I found and kicked myself for not catching them, others were total surprises and off the charts.

I think a valve stem problem might have gone unnoticed if it happened when I was using pressure pro, but it might not have it I was manually checking pressures prior to a trip. I don’t know, but one thing is for sure it was a good catch and no harm was done.

    I don’t think so.

XLII is the 45′ coach that succeeded the XLV; about 2000 chassis year. It would not surprise me that a handful of 40′ XLII’s were built, but its possible that all XLII’s are 45′. As I understand it the XLII 45′ motorhome chassis had the shorter wheelbase with the small “tag bay” behind the tag axle. XLII’s for entertainers have a long wheel base with no tag bay behind the tag axle.

X3 is the 45′ successor to the XLII’s. As I understand it the X3’s are all long wheelbase chassis; i.e. the X3 entertainer chassis and the X3 motorhome chassis have the same wheelbase. Which should be the same as the seated coach wheelbase.

As Prevost moved from XLV to XLII to X3 more things changed that just the wheel base in the coach. But this will get you started understanding the differences.

These may or maybe not have slides, depends on how they were ordered. The further you get into the 2000’s model year coaches, the more likely they are to have slides, as the years go by more slides.

I trust if I’ve characterized anything incorrectly I’ll be politely corrected.

Ha Ha Dick, If it’s not obvious to you by now I’m Jon’s favorite, at least or until he reads this post. I also know you were just kidding. But we also know you’ve never liked Rudy and felt his coach couldn’t even fill the role of a delivery van. That’s just so sad and so rude!

See Dick, I can make trouble too!!! :).

And Rudy I was kidding about Dick not liking you, that was a complete fabrication on my part. A picture of you and your coach on his dartboard not withstanding… 🙂
