  • A House For Odie

Posted by Davy on June 11, 2017 at 4:42 am

Many of you know that we are building my daughter a house to live in. She will continue to travel with us but will have a place to call home and options for her future. The bus is rolling on weekends and we are singing and preaching during the week close enough to work during the day and drive the car at night.

People have come from all over to help and more are on the way. I am posting a few pictues of the progress so those that are interested can keep up. Some of you visit our blog and there are always many more pictures there.

My Dad pushing Odie up the garage ramp the first time.

    We framed it May 23rd.

    Morning

    Afternoon

And we set the trusses a few days later.

Here are a few of the guys that came to help frame and put on trusses. Represented in this picture are Mississippi, Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio.

My mom and brother fed them and that was worth the trip to some of them!

Always an audience on this house.

Odie is just a little excited to see the trusses go on.

The HVAC rough is finished, the plumber’s second rough is started and my Dad and I are working on the electric.

We are a long way from being finished but a lot closer than we were even two weeks ago.

Looks great Davy. Odie is going to be really proud, first because she will have her own place and the fact that she actually had a hand in the construction. Way to go. You truly are blessed with a wonderful daughter and a lot of great friends who are willing to put sweat equity into her dream.

    Bless you, my brother.

Thank you for the comments and well wishes on the house for my daughter, Odie. We are making a little progress on the project each week. The rough HVAC, Electrical and Plumbing are finished. All the electrical is neat when my Dad is doing it.

Sevaral things in Odie’s house will be controled remotely but to an electrician there is nothing like hard wired switches. She will have seven switches next to her bed.

The metal roof, soffits and porch ceilings were finished Friday. Mitch Boggs Jr. (No relation to us) came from Missouri and brought Pastor Jayson Fellers to put it all on. Both of these families have been our friends for years and it was a pleasure to have them with us for two partial days and one long day. Their wives, daughters and sons all worked hard!

Odie chose a taupe roof (Matches the barn roof) but with white trim, soffits and porch ceilings. She wants to use Deep Ocean Blue Hardi board siding but we have not worked out all the details of that.

My wife, my parents and my brother all worked hard as well, including cooking for every one at least a couple times each day.

The roof and trim looks great and it was expertly installed. It rained very hard last night and no leaks. That is a bonus!

I will be working this week on a wood treatment for the vaulted ceiling in the kitchen/living room. Once the garage door is installed we will be able to lock it up and walk away for a few months if we need to do so.

This is not bus related but it has been over two months since I updated you all on the house for Odie. We left for our fall and winter tour recently so most of the daily work has stopped for now.

We have made a lot of progress this summer even while traveling quite a bit for work. Inside we only lack finishing the HVAC, plumbing, electrical, flooring and counter tops. Outside we lack the septic, porches, drive and siding, although the siding is purchased and waiting.

    Here are a few pictures.

    Spray foam insulation from Missouri

Custom tile for her roll in shower compliments of a dear friend in Oklahoma.

A roll in closet that doubles as a safe room.

The cabinets also came from Oklahoma and my father in law did the painting.

    That is all for now.
