Jeff is right of course in that he’s holding my coach hostage until the Great Maintenance Seminar of 2017! It’s Jeff’s contention with so many Prevost owners being there I’ll pay his bill and save my actual tears for later. Little does he know I’ve started tearing up writing this post just getting reading for him!

Actually there’s no problem because I’ve been flipping burgers at the local Burger King since taking my bus into Jeff! Did you know if you make $7.50 per hour for a 6 hour days that’s, let me see, carry the 3, is $45.00? That should get me a Norgren Valve right!

Harry: I recommend you arrive early for the seminar and volunteer to dump everyone’s coach upon arrival, and then again as they leave. Proper dumping technique is something a new coach owner can’t practice enough.

Unless I read between the lines incorrectly (yes, I’ve done that before), it appears your bus will be ready at the same time the Maintenance Seminar is taking place. Yes, there’s a lot to learn and you’ll be in the right place at the right time to pick up some great tips!

Andy, although it pains me to say it, you are absolutely right! I was chomping at the bit to get my coach back! But what an opportunity to learn from the seminar speakers and the good folks who will be there. Part of the discussion has to do with slides. I don’t have slides but I know things will come up that are not necessarily slide related that will be of interest.

Its like the Li battery discussion on the Electrical forum. I have no intention of putting them in my coach but I enjoy learning about the new technology.

It also gives me the chance to meet new friends and say hi to old ones and that’s what’s best of all.

Harry, I think this is the first time I’ve been right on this forum. It would have been helpful if you would have typed that I was correct in ALL CAPS!

By the way, make sure they teach you the important stuff such as when (and how much) to add of that minty smelling blue stuff to your toilet and drains. That’s much more helpful than the blinker fluid stuff!

Harry, I think you are missing an opportunity to know what you don’t know by delaying your coach pickup until the seminar.

Your experience is related to a non-stop drive from TX and a couple of short local trips to reposition the coach. At this point you lack even the most basic understanding of your coach and its systems so the information covered at the seminar is going to come at you hard and fast and may have no way of being meaningful because of the very limited use of the coach.

I would urge you to get your hands on your coach and drive it, use it, operate the systems, level it, make note of the gauge readings, watch the gauges cycle, etc. etc. The more you use the coach the more things you will notice and want to learn.

From a newbie’s perspective, Jon made a very good point. You may consider picking up your coach at least a week prior to the seminar and get some seat and sleep time on the bus before taking your first drink from the firehose.

If I can add one more item, keep a notepad and pen handy and start making lists of questions as they pop into your mind. Remember, there’s no dumb questions when it comes to operating a bus as everyone was a newbie once.

Speaking of lists, I’ve found it very helpful to have printed checklists in a binder that has a page for each specific usage or parking situation. Yes, it’s time consuming to put them together, but when facing scenarios such as arriving/departing a full hookup site, having electrical hookups only or when taking the bus in/out of storage, having a printed guide for the steps needed removes quite a bit of stress that you may have forgotten something. Your lists will be a bit shorter than mine as you can skip the “slides in/out” section!

Now that Lucy is traveling onboard, I need to edit my lists to add: Remove green poop bag from wheel.

Hi Dick, Althoigh I’ve taken your dumping plan under advisement it wasn’t until recently I found out that asfault wasn’t rectomal trouble!

All good advice guys but do you know what I’ve found out? You can’t spend time in a bus if you don’t have said bus! Jeff said he’ll have my bus ready by October 6th, the start of the seminar. So that’s my start date and I’ll do everything I can to learn from that date forward.

One thing I know is you guys will be there all along the way… God help me!!!
