My thoughts are now that pulling straight back is OK, but trying to lift the rear of the coach from the frame in back (essentially the engine cradle I would think) is not to be done.

Been using it for the last 3 months with a “Wally” receiver and no problems. We add local channels to our service +$12 monthly and they are inciuded in the channel guide. We manage local channels via mobile app. It’s a 5 min process to change to the closest channels. Note that the$35 advertised rate includes few popular Channels. Add channels, add locals, add a second receiver, and monthly rate pushes $100

Sorry to hear about Ben. Spent more than a week hanging out with him almost exactly 4 years ago at Parliament, got to enjoy a few beers and talk about being in the Navy. He was a great tech with a good mind.

Seajet I remember your bus living there at the same time. I have very fond memories of the time I spent camped there. RIP Ben!

Dana: Can I get the class B without the DOT medical? I thought I needed the DOT medical to take the test. Why do you have to take a licensed driver to the test?

Want to get license for insurance (told a 10% discount), in case I get a call to drive commercially, backup defense in case of accident, and because I personally believe we should have to carry a special license to drive these things.

If I (or any of us) can’t pass the written or the driver’s test … we should not be behind the wheel. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it!

I’ll keep my head down for a while.

I hope Tom’s response of 2 degree temperature reporting does not bring him a deluge of comments after there are a number of these units on the road.

When I saw the question my only thought is “who cares if the accuracy is within a degree or so?” The temperature reporting accuracy is far less important than the sensors reporting a spread between one wheel or tire and the others. I have never seen where the maximum tire operating temperature has been listed by a tire manufacturer. In fact the Michelin Truck Tire Data Book is silent on the tire operating temperature limit.

However tire temperatures or more precisely the spread between temperatures is a valuable tool for warning of or identifying serious issues ranging from a dragging brake or failing bearing. It has been my experience that tires inflated to the specification in the Michelin chart are likely to have temperatures almost all alike with some temperature variation to position (inner duals seemm hotter than the outer) and or which tires are on the sunny side of the coach.

This deal is not warranty work. This is a service contract and so far I have been pleased as punch. It works for me and when I travel it is hard to find any computer service tech to do anything. At least I have a place to go for $200 a year. To me worth the risk.

Glens that would be terrific and something I’ll hold you too. I have to have Jeff take another look at my OTR. It worked great when I bought it but when I went to use it again it was a no go.

As the past owner was showing me the OTR bay he talked about how to buy the refrigerant because it was so expensive through a dealer. I wonder if my problem is a leak and that was his way of telling me?

    Gerald,

The cable clamp is to secure the oil return from the alternator and would go over the stud on the longest bolt supplied, however no 7/16″ nut is included in the kit for that purpose. Small angle bracket replaces one on the turbo side that supports the down pipe. Two of the small bolts and one nut are for that purpose. The large flange nut included is for the supplied 7/16″ bolt to secure the new turbo-side bracket. It is thicker than the original stamped one and so the bolt is longer. It is also larger in diameter, perhaps to allow a higher torque value. The other smaller bolts that secure the brackets to the head are longer than original ones to compensate for the additional thickness of the new brackets.

I ordered my kit through Pacific Power as Williams did not answer the phone and did not bother to return my call. PP had it in stock and shipped it the next day.

I did not have to remove any piping to access the installation although it would have been easier to see the turbo-side install.

Thanks all. We will head on to Breckenridge and get one of the local RV repairs guys to com out. Luckily it did not rain too much last night. I like the idea of fender washers!

I inspected the cover this AM and three of the screw holes are fine (meaning the screws fell out). One of the holes on the front was ripped out. I guess it could not hold on the side wind.

I think the lesson here is: Even something as seeming harmless on the machines has to treated with the same level of care as the big things. If the cover had flown off on the interstate and hit a car, a motorcycle, or cause someone to swerve to miss it, a bad accident could happen that could ruin a lot of lives.

I’m about to install the same kit. There are some extra parts like the adel clamp, the 3rd small angle bracket and the smaller bolts. Where do these go? Are these there just to account for the different installations over the years?

We’ll be watching this with some interest. My ‘14 Explorer Sport is getting due for replacement and we’re looking. Honestly, we’ve never considered the Ram, but if the Dodge Durango SRT could be flat towed, I think my search would be over. Too bad…! May wait for the next/gen Explorer. Rumors of 400+ HP. We like an SUV over a pickup for the storage and I like a little performance.
