Despite the fact Tom has never sent me a penny of the PC dues he has collected I have to jump in here and strongly urge anyone in the market for batteries or tire pressure monitors to contact him.

He has always stood behind the products he sells, he knows not only the products but our applications for them and he will not steer anyone wrong just to make a buck.

If you need batteries or want the best tire pressure monitoring system with a lot of options for both products give Tom a call or shoot him an email. When you are communicating with him just ask him why he won’t send me my share of the dues money.

Does the Pro FX use just a single antenna or does it need a repeater on our buses? Is there an installation guide?

I have to use the PC Card with Buddy, that wallet never gets opened.

Gerald – It uses the standard dipole antenna, but you can use your external antenna as well if you already have one. There is no documentation at present, but the app gives directions for installation. PP is going to publish an information sheet for trouble shooting, settings, etc.

I have been a Beta test for the FX and I can now report that the app bugs are gone and the system is working as designed. This is what my ipad app looks like today.

I have not had a problem with the Dipole Antenna mounted up front above the TV receiving the toad or rear bus tires. The FX device can mounted anywhere in the coach, I also tried it in the rear closed with line of site to the front with no problem. You can also connect the FX to your extended antenna if you want to replace the Pulse, same cable connection.

As a reminder, you must have the Dynamic Sensors for the FX.

If I put an iPad on the dash at some point, will iPad will also receive temps, pressures, and warnings also?

Will the PP app run in the background of the iPhone or iPad while they receive and make plans hone calls, run nav program, play music, etc.

Your website says the external antenna must be mounted under the coach and as far back as possible. Is that the antenna you say you mounted up front? Is the antenna performing much better than originally anticipated?? I’m confused. Thanks

If I put an iPad on the dash at some point, will iPad will also receive temps, pressures, and warnings also? It will not do both at the same time, turn off the Bluetooth on your IPad or Iphone to use one or the other.

Thanks The external antenna has nothing to do with the FX, it was necessary for the Pulse since there is no Repeater yet for the Dynamic Sensors. The FX uses the Dipole Antenna.

I hope Tom’s response of 2 degree temperature reporting does not bring him a deluge of comments after there are a number of these units on the road.

When I saw the question my only thought is “who cares if the accuracy is within a degree or so?” The temperature reporting accuracy is far less important than the sensors reporting a spread between one wheel or tire and the others. I have never seen where the maximum tire operating temperature has been listed by a tire manufacturer. In fact the Michelin Truck Tire Data Book is silent on the tire operating temperature limit.

However tire temperatures or more precisely the spread between temperatures is a valuable tool for warning of or identifying serious issues ranging from a dragging brake or failing bearing. It has been my experience that tires inflated to the specification in the Michelin chart are likely to have temperatures almost all alike with some temperature variation to position (inner duals seemm hotter than the outer) and or which tires are on the sunny side of the coach.

Where does the Dipole antenna get installed? Next to the FX Machine above the driver or down below the bus?

Also, do I have to remove the outer dual to get the sensors on the inner duals. I just have the standard short 90 degree valves on all the tires.

The Dipole has about a 6’ cord, so you can mount it wherever you want. I did not hide it in the dash or overhead, so that may degrade the signal. It will be trial and error to find the best spot for your bus. It can be located anywhere, front, rear or mid ship as long as you have 12v for the module. Once the Repeater is available any signal loss or problem will be eliminated. All I can tell you is works fine for me the way I have it mounted. I will be moving it to an overhead behind a grill that should have no effect on signal loss.

The inner dual is a problem in that there is a way to minimize risk but make access to the valve stem less easy, or have a risk, but access to the valve stem simple.

Tom has often posted a tool he uses to install or remove the sensor. It is a simple tool he made from plastic pipe fittings. The problem is to access the sensor and valve stem you have to reach through the outer wheel and feel for the sensor, ot to reinstall the sensor you have to do the same to feel for the valve stem end.

When I installed the pressure pro I violated all my previously held beliefs because I not only had to remove my through the cap valve stem caps that were a double seal, I added extensions to the inner duals so the sensors and valve stems are accessible. The jury is out on deciding if I made the correct choice, but I am monitoring the valve stems carefully and so far I have not had an issue. I have supported the sensor and the stem so centrifugal force that has the potential to flex the valve stem at the inner wheel is minimized.

I have traded convenience for the less risky valve stem caps with no extensions.

How long will the batteries last in the sensors ? And when they do get low can the batteries be replaced or do you have to replace the sensor ?
