Hi Jim, I’ve been reading how insurance rates have gone up because of the premiums they’ve had to pay out with the hurricanes and all. My agreed value policy has stayed the same for two years. I’m curious to see what my policy will look like that comes up in May.

Jon, it’s almost like you’re saying our Prevost is a luxury item? But oh boy, driving down the highway seeing America is a wonderful thing. And not being blown off the road while doing so is another perk. Watching some videos of plastic coaches burning resonates as well.

Hey Liam, The cost of ownership can be an attention getter… I do give that a thought now and again. Then I sit behind the wheel and that smile comes to my face again. And it’s as Jon said “It is all about the lifestyle and the friends we have made over the years, the memories, and the sheer enjoyment of seeing the country from one.” That truly makes the entire package fit together. Because if you go by what it cost to run, fix and maintenance it becomes another matter.

Wouldn’t post removal of the EGR crap on these engines. Heard of a small company (Tuner Company on Pick Ups) that got popped a couple years ago and put him outa business. Fines were a killer. The EPA can kill you. I’d still do it if I had one. F um.

As some know, I have also sold my bus. Happened pretty quick in Dec 2018.

With the help of Legacy Coach Rockwall TX. Brandon had a buyer for my triple slide 2007 Marathon H3-45.

Drove the bus to Rockwall TX. arriving a rainy afternoon. Arrangements had been made for the buyer to see it next day. That happened with the buyer showing up making an offer $50K less then we discussed. I rejected his offer.

Brandon, tells me not to worry as he has another buyer, has made a phone call, will arrive next day to look. We had a deal struck at 2:00 pm with the second buyer.

Way to go Brandon…sold in under 48 hours smile

Miss the bus, after 18 years of RVing ? yes a lot. I’am thinking after 3 Prevost and one Country Coach its time to move on.

Things changed after loss of my wife in May 2016 and then after a routine physical in May 2018 learning I have prostate cancer. In order to save my life the Prostate gland must be removed ASAP.

I’am still recovering from that operation but last week learning ..I’am cancer free at this time. My treatment will continue for 2 years to help prevent it returning.

I guess after reading Buddy’s post things fell in place to write this post. All except laying in the tub with the shower on…yikes.

Here is some generic advice. I hope the Vantare folks can provide some specifics.

Try to keep the water tank full. It is a huge heat sink and when temps get very low the heat in that mass of water keeps the water bay relatively warm when power or heat is interrupted.

Learn how the water bay is heated and make sure the heat source is working. Usually there are multiple heat sources, such as a heat exchanger from engne coolant or an Aquahot or Webasto. There also might be an electric heater. Often house heat is also directed into the bay.

So to make matters worse, after the install the coach ran and then began dumping oil……so out came the engine again….the guy putting it together didnt check the new gaskets well, which left voids etc…..engine back in and I believe it is getting a good road test in the morning…

The panel lights that come from the panel in the left front run compartment are any that are on the dash dimmer switch. The rest come from the panel in the first bay. The ones by the passenger seat may not de on the dimmer circuit. Typically this can be due to a dirty connection at the panel or switch panel plug. Check to see if you have 5 volts coming to the switch panel. From memory it is one of the wires on the end plus the next one to it. The very end is ground and the next one is the 5 volts. Again, this is from memory.

So I make it to my home town on Monday afternoon. I stop at truck shop and had them look at things to see if something obvious is wrong. The one thing that they found was a fuel filter that really needed to be changed. The filter was changed but still no boost. I made it home and the coach sat until Thursday night. Thursday night I start th coach to head to Little Rock for an early appointment at United Engines. Once stared the check engine light came on. I was more worried about getting out of my neighbor hood with no boost then the light being on. To my amazement, I had boost all the way to Little Rock which is about 80 miles from my home. So that got me thinking, did a dirty fuel filter cause all of my troubles? After explaining what happened to the guys at United Engines, they all said that the filter could have caused my problem but just to make sure they highly recommended that we change the boost pressure switch on the side of the manifold, which they did. Any way after all of this, sure would be embarrassing to find out the dirty filter was the problem. P.S. The barometric pressure switch and harness had already been changed under a recall at some point.

Truck running in neutral, foot on the brake, hold in neutral button for about 5-10 seconds, done!!!

To return T-case into gear:

Start truck, put in neutral with foot on the brake and hit 2 high button, done!

Doesn’t get any easier with no distance or speed limits and no fuses to pull!!
