Mikee, I believe that face looks a lot like Tom’s did at that fatal moment.
GREAT POST!

Dick: You don’t like your retarder? I’ve had both (one at a time) and, other than the need to change atf more frequently, I thought it was 6 of one and a half-dozen of the other.
BTW, BECAUSE of the lack of jake brake hardware under the valve cover, my valve cover came off for my top end adjustment service without removing the bedroom floor or sliding engine out.

Last time I was at Kentucky Hoarse Park tree’s were a big problem. The RV crowd loves big, bushy, low hanging tree’s for shade.

Dick, manufacturers are not in the business of selling replacement parts. In fact maintaining an inventory of replacement parts is an expensive pain in the ass and is only done to not piss off customers.
The handles may have come from different suppliers and the one that is supplied now as opposed to the original might be because the original manufacturer stopped making the first one, or maybe Prevost found a new supplier who would sell handles for 2 cents less.
BTW, I am not opposed to rummaging around in truck junk yards.

Yes, in this bus it’s only for chassis batteries. I was confused in the beginning but am starting to get a handle on it now

Hi Steve, My Bus is parked in an RV park here in Murphy, NC. I will see tomorrow if I can regionalize the air leak. I l’ll try to hear it with the engine running. It that doesn’t work I’ll get someone to stand where I heard the pop to see if he can hear the air when I first turn the engine off. I’ll also try the Level Low to see if I can get the front bags aired up etc.
Hi Dick, I will not put any of my body or anyone else’s under the bus and I thank you for the warning. Something like that you can’t hear enough. I don’t have bottle jacks but I have a mechanic coming over tomorrow to take a look and he has them.
Thanks for your help guys,
Harry

All of the 5 stack solenoids are de-energized(closed) when you turn the key off. With the key off you can leave it in DRIVE or MANUAL and it should stay put, if you don’t have any leaks.
If you put it back to DRIVE after leveling, you must turn the key off “immediately” after switching it DRIVE.
I leave mine in MANUAL until I turn the key off. Then I switch it to DRIVE so it’s ready to level for driving next time I fire it up.

Did not know that, good to know.

Plan was to leave about 8:30- 9am from Marathon(after they show me where the inverters bypass switches are…LOL), that will put me about 3pm into Atlanta, at 68/70 mph.

After further examination the brake lights will go on and off when I turn my Jake brake switch on and off. Any ideas????
i did find the relay is labeled R26 in the panel over the engine! Thanks for that tip!

Ron, now that you have been relieved of a bay full of Benjamins you might want to reweight the coach so you can adjust the tire pressures to the reduced weight.

No worries, it’s always nice to be able to agree to disagree. I will never own another solid axle coach and I will never own another coach with Cruise Air. Just a choice. I think buyers need to be informed.

Hey Harry…how was your ride home?

Hi Allen,
I bought my bus through Ebay and was very happy with the process. I made an offer through Craig’s list and it wasn’t long after the owner called. After many questions and answers we agreed on a price and I sent him $1,0000 to bind the deal subject to my inspection.
A few days later I flew to Austin, TX and had an excellent interior and exterior walk through by the owner, looked over all the bus history and took a test drive. He drove first showing me things as we went and drove us out to a country road with little traffic where he turned the bus over to me.
First thing he had me stop three of four times to get the feel of the air brakes. I’d driven a few plastic coach diesel pushers before and had an idea of the feel. Between there and the interstate I drove I’d guess 40 miles. We stopped and filled it with fuel and then back to his place where I transferred the remainder of the agreed upon amount. I then drove it home 1100 miles to North Carolina.
I found the process worked well for both buyer and seller. I’d not consider having someone drive my bus without an agreed upon amount and earnest money. As they say, No Ticky No Laundry!
