    I think the tag is a #30, Prevo Number 641253 @ $228.31 on 9/6/11.

I changed all my chambers, hoses and brake pads with Prevo parts last year.

    Dale,

Have you ever tried the punch method recommended by Jon? I do have a Greenlee set, but have never used them on SS. Jon, have you ever tested the method on a Prevost skin?

I could probably get by with a 1.5 inch hole.

I am confused Jon, a Dear Abby post in a bus forumn, but then again there is always the ever present thing called thread drift, that is nothing new. Is this something like that?

Another question: When you were coming home from Florida, is this when it happened. Were they “Love Bugs?”

Just this side of Jacksonville, my wife asked me how I knew the windshield was full of Love Bugs … So I gave her the Okie scientific explanation … “Well, look at ’em, they are splattering two at a time for cryin’ out loud!”

    I love my CD Player.

Probably be quieter if your steer axle wheel housings had insulation (or did you replace it?)

Jon’s Liberty buddies are all speculating the reason for contacting Dear Abby…… Marathon owners already know the cure.

With the help of another Marathon owner (Alan) we will assist Jon again going through shield withdrawal (SW) .It’s the flashbacks Jon is experiencing due to loss of the shield pick up here in KC.

If he had the shield there would be no concern about slides. The attention would be people pointing to the classic look bolted shield on bus front.

Pointing would be replaced with a…. thumbs up

By reinforced you mean with a spring inside or just heavy duty hoses? Mine feel like they have springs in them.

Tom, what do your mean by “correctly” when you state that the assumption is that the inverter is charging discharging your battery “correctly”.

It is my understanding that the inverter operates on the string of 4D or 8D batteries as a single “battery”.

You might want to check the reference I supplied. It clearly calculates that in the first presented example, the bottom battery in the string is supplying twice the current as the top battery and that none of them are being drawn down equally. The author claims he did not believe the math and verified the computation experimentally. I don’t think that his results would fall into any definition of “correct”. Fact of the matter is that we may well have a cabling “rat” in the battery bay.

Now maybe you are correct that this is not a matter for concern by Lifeline and I completely appreciate your offer to refresh my battery inventory. However, I have observed over the last few years many instances where one cell in one battery went south and took the whole string and then the entire bank with it. I can not for the life of me remember any one incident where it happened at a good/convenient time. Also, I wonder how many of the batteries with the bad cell were the “bottom” battery? I wonder about the options which would be available if we had better resolution into the health and condition of the individual batteries in the strings in our coaches. How about how many owners where present when the failure of a cell occurred and were able to do something about it? I am also questioning many of the “but-that’s-the-way-it-has-always-been-done” approaches to coach battery management, which seems to be hit the problem with a $40000 “new battery” hammer.

Also, as has been stated previously in this thread, A Vantare is a little bit different in the design of the power system and the loss of house battery power is so significant, it makes one think about such things.

Also forgot to mention while you have access to your main house a/c (if yours is like mine it is buried behind the radiator which has to be removed to access it) I would check your ductwork that goes up into the bus from that unit.. ours was just terribly deteriorated and a very easy fix… infact our replacement ducts are so superior to the original.. we were cooling the bay as well I think but not anymore. also a great idea to blow the dirt out of the entire bay making sure the a/c is good and clean.

    Just a thought !!

The plastic shields on a Prevost are the equivalent of a paper bag on an ugly person. Some coaches (no names mentioned here) are two shield coaches if you know what I mean…….

    Your turn Al.

    Jim,

Instead of trashing the site, ask if you have a problem.

My aux air goes right into a air filter then to a manifold that supplies air to level the coach and air for the air cylinders on bay and steer doors. I have a valve that I can run air to the supply tank when we get ready for travel, I air the whole bus system up before starting the engine. I have never liked running my engine while all the tanks and bags get full.

note; I turn the key on the last five minutes before travel, to allow the ride height to stablize.
