Guy’s, that post was almost 2 years ago, I don’t have a clue about gaskets now. Back then, L & M had the gaskets.

So I think this brings us back to adding additives to each tank of fuel. Some of the better products do advertise reducing soot, increase in performance do to more punch when the big bang happens.

This would keep everything in place on EGR system and maybe better performance.

I pulled the original 24 volt charger for the chassis batteries that Liberty installed on my 1999 coach and have a Guest/Mariner 2611A 12/24 volt charger.

I believe/think/heard somewhere that some of the converters are using the same or similar charger on their new coaches. From what I can tell, the charger has two sets of 12 volt leads. I’m a little puzzled as to how to hook it up to my set of four Group 31 batteries. Which leads go to what batteries? I’m awfully sure that positive goes to positive and negative goes to negative … but there are four of each.

I presume that all Prevost chassis batteries (with four 12 volt group 31 batteries in a set) are wired the same (I sure hope so). If you’re using a Guest/Mariner 2611A charger on your chassis batteries and/or it was installed by your converter (especially Liberty), I would be interested to know how it was wired to the batteries.

Dale, You can make all connections at the equalizer on the 24V side.

    Thanks for the replies!

I usually take my 12 volt charger out there and top them off 1 12v bank and then the other but it is a hassel. Just thought about a small permenant charger. I was looking at the Battery Tender brand so I will look at a three stage Guest also.

Having the four batteries wired the way they are, is there a 3 stage charger that would connect to the ground post (to the bus frame) and and the 24v post (going to the disconnect)? I have been reading and it looks like they are made for a 2 bank system. I’m assuming I have a 2 bank system with 2-12v (1 bank) and 2-12v (1 bank) = 2 banks.

Here is what was taken from the web, ” Guest 6 amp 3-stage fully automatic electronic dual output charger is designed to recharge 2 batteries, either 24 volt series or 2 separate 12 volt batteries. Each battery receives a dedicated maximum 3 amps of charge current. Output leads may be paired to one 12 volt battery for a total of 6 amps of charge current. Will not work on single 24 volt battery such as aircraft design batteries. ” end.

Jan and I really need to start traveling more then we wouldn’t have a battery issue.

    Grizz,

If you haven’t addressed the Marathon aux tank and corrosion problem, you might want to discuss that with Marathon. Like you, they treated us really well..

Karl’s idea is looking like the best option, though we have short stops planned in several locations, and the logistics of multiple retals is tough… maybe all we can do.

Dick, the F250 was set up for towing four down and hauling the ATV in the bed. It was a great and unique setup.

I use a automotive product called Back to Black on my plastic Jeep fenders and it work real well. Don’t see why it would not work for this.

Not knowing the history of the coach and where it spent its life I can only throw this out based on one of my coaches. The filler tube (the tube the dipstick runs in) had corrosion at the bottom where it went into the transmission. Not a particularly easy fix unless you can get beneath the coach as well as work from the top.

The critical part of the replacement is to get all the crud from the flat area where the steel tube enters the aluminum case. If it is not clean there is a risk of getting grit into the transmission.

The path is engine compressor, dryer, wet tank, primary, secondary and then aux tank in that order. If you fill from the rear, you fill everything, if you fill from the front, you fill aux tank only.

A charter bus company, especially one that has Prevost coaches is likely to be a good source for AC service, particularly if the shop technician has attended the Prevost training or seen the webinar.

The systems are robust and reliable if properly maintained. Usually the biggest issue is the compressor seal begins to leak so if you are ever going to pump it down take advantage of that to consider a compressor seal. If the area behind the clutch is wet with oil that’s a good clue.
