You’ll like the trip to Copper Harbor. Make sure you spend some time in Houghton,Hancock, Calument, Larium, and Kearsarge. When the copper mines were going full tilt around 1900 to maybe 1910 or so … that area was bigger than Detriot and had more economic influence than Chicago. Then the easy copper played out and things changed. There are lots of old abandoned mines and deserted villages with only the foundations of the houses and buildings left. Are you going out to Isle Royale?

I Am wondering if any other 8v92 owners would like to commit to buying one of these to have on hand. It sounds like it would be a real nightmare to need one out on the road and have the coach stuck for several months.I would not want to count on that 1 dinosaur still being on Jeff’s shelf should the need arise.
Jeff, what would the approximate cost be per unit if you were to get a commitment from say 6 of us? If you would be interested in facilitating a bulk order I would be very interested. Obviously it would have to be verified that our busses in fact had that same box. Thanks, Jeff
Also Jeff, Great idea on getting one made.

I’ve done all my installs myself, but haven’t used the break away.

Thanks Bob, this gives me a lot to think about. Yeah, I’m really not into adding another alternator, regulator and having to mount it on the engine. No more than what I’m trying to run on the road until I get a very good 15 kw diesel generator, I’m thinking ditch the inverters and go with a inexpensive 5000 or 7500 watt noisy diesel generator for now to at least have power on the road. I do not want gasoline because of the the high flamable possibility. I am sure I can pick one up on craigslist for $500 TO $600 dollars. Probably my best option for now! Thanks for enlighting me!

Check
for GFCI in entertainment bay, check in Curb Side water bay. On Panel
by stove check for switch that says Right Bay, Left Bay, Rear Bay also check
one that says something like Systems W/O Switch (would have to get correct
wording from Bus) Another would say
Systems with Switch. My battery charger
outlet is connected to the one that says w/o switch. (ask me how I know that L) Vantare’ electrical
system is different to say the least. -
You make yourself nuts trying to make sensors and thermostats read accurately. After a while you know where they are and adjust accordingly. Geo.

Hugh, If it is any consollation we had a PC rally scheduled at Hearthside for this year and they pulled that crap regarding the restriction and we cancelled the rally. But they are not alone. Bella Terra in Foley has an age restriction and we refused to do our rally there unless it was waived. Now our contract with them has language that says any attendee of the PC oysterfest is allowed, no age restrictions.
You know your RV resort included that restriction in their proposal despite my insistence that restriction alone was a deal breaker.
Our only response to any questions about age is to either tell them we will not go to their resort because of the discrimination, or to turn it around and ask the age of the resort and tell them their resort is too old for your personal preference on the age of an RV resort. It’s bullshit.

between West Y and Big Sky is a section of Rt 191 that goes into Yellowstone about 12 miles north of West Yellowstone. No surprises, other than a possible speed limit reduction. We drove our Yellowstone MCI’s buses to Bozeman and the airport all winter for many years four times a day on regular, runs. You may see elk also on the way and a beautiful view of the west side of the Gallatin Mountain. 48 miles to Big Sky’s driveway, then the canyon narrows so you are closer to the Gallatin River which originates from Yellowstone. You’ll follow closely along it edge for 19 miles, then you’ll open to the Gallatin Valley the rest of the way. The Gallintin River is 1/3 of what makes the Missouri River which begins west of Bozeman/Belgrade at Three Forks, Mt where the Galatin meets the Madison and Jefferson Rivers. The Madison River also originates in Yellowstone, which is the River that follows the road out to the west gate of the park to the town of West Yellowstone after the Firehole River from the Old Faithful area converges with the Gibbon River, at Madison Jct 14 miles east of West Yellowstone, Mt

The coaches are designed for use and daily use of them is probably better than letting them sit. When not in use and exposed to the elements they still need the interior temps to be in a moderate range, they need to be washed, they should have protection from the sun which can damage the interior and some exterior features such as rubber components, roof sealers, etc.
The good news is the exterior finishes are of such a high quality they can withstand a lot of exposure to the elements before they begin to show their age.

Looks like a change of plans Stretch. About to head for the CO Rockies. How long will you be in the area, staying at Tiger Run?

correct that their unit has the condensing unit on the roof with compressor in the bay….voltage check to fan, that tells which way to go as well….could be bad fan(had new parts fail). Wiring,connector…..

I am sure I do not understand the elictrical system on this bus so here is what I did and for now the problem has corrected itself.
I turned the charging on that inverter from 5 amps to 15 amps and within a few hours it went to float. I have left the other inverter at 5 amps and things seem to be ok this morning. The reason I turned them both to 5 amps is when we first got here we were blowing the breaker on the post so I turned both chargers to 5 amps and that was fine for probably 2 weeks then the one inverter went to bulk. They also came and put in a new breaker so I am not sure which actaully cured the problem.
