Cruise Air Cycling
Had a strange cycling issue:
Have you ever had a cruise issue which produces cold air; but cyclcles off before it meets its designated temperature? ((In this case 85 degrees).
For example, the cruiseair is set at 85 degrees, but the cruiseair cycles off before hitting 85 degree? Would this be a thermastat issue? I’m assuming each Cruiseair has its own thermostat …

By cycling off do you mean the outside unit(condensing) or the inside unit (evap) and when cycling what does the controler show as far as lights

Ditto what Jeff said, what is turning off. The evaporator fan is 1st to shut off when reaching the set temp followed by the condensor fan that continues for 3 or 4 minutes in cool down mode.
The SMX controls allow you to change the differential in temps. I have one that I set for 82 to maintain 78. Even though I have adjusted the differential, the sensor is off that much.

It was the evaporator that shut-off at 85, when I had the SMX set at 80. It’s not the AC because it does blow cold, it was just cycling off early. This is the first time I noticed it not cooling down to the temp I set on the SMX. I don’t know if this happened because the salon evaporator cruise air is located on my upper front Windows and it was extremely hot yesterday which made that upper compartment very hot.
Set the SMX at 72 this morning since it was at 76. Blew cold air the entire time, cooling the entire time, but the thermostat just stayed at 76. so not exactly sure what happened yesterday.

You make yourself nuts trying to make sensors and thermostats read accurately. After a while you know where they are and adjust accordingly. Geo.

In the manuals for Cruiseairs there are procedures for calibrating and setting various values. But George is correct in that once you have the SMX pads set to a temp that works for you the numbers are not that important.
