I’ve also enjoyed your videos of Cheeeef. Thank you for taking the time to make those. My own renovation is much more modest, in keeping with my skills. 🙂

The conversion is built more on a simplistic design. It does not have complicated systems. There are no iPads or automated systems to maintain. It does have eight 8D batteries with two Trace inverters that do run two of the roof airs without needing to run the generator. I say this because if your generator has a problem you still have options while out on the road.

I think it would be easiest to speak to you on the phone to answer any questions. I have sent an email to you with my cell number. Or if you prefer I can respond here. Let me know your preference.

I don’t know what is wrong, but if leg 1 inverter is shut down, and you want to reset it, follow these steps in order:

    1) No shore power.

    2 ) Unplug genny autostart.

3 ) Turn off inverters at their remotes.

    4) Turn off breakers for leg 1 and 2 at the control panel. They may be labeled battery charger 1 and battery charger 2.

    5) Turn off master switch(s) outside to disconnect house batteries from inverters. Mine is located in the house battery compartment. You will have one or two of these.

    6) Wait 5 minutes for the diodes in the inverters to bleed down.

    7) Restart by reversing the sequence, that is 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

Shut down may be heat related due to the fans on the back and outside the inverter case inop.

Hi Press and thank you for the update,

It sounds like all is well for now but how do things look for later? Is the releasing water from the sapillway going to negatively effect you?

You guys are very much in our prayers! Be safe, be careful and please keep us up to date.

Will do Jon, Judy is OCD in matters like this and tenacious. The other party was at fault, so we’ll be dealing with her insurance.

    Andy,

I am sure sound quality is important for you. It is not for me. We got rid of a high quality sound bar that was part of our system because my wife and I found it was easier for us to hear and make out the dialog using the speakers from the TV.

    Mark,

You claim I don’t use the Jake like I’m supposed to, yet, from your quote: However, by appropriately using the engine brake for your slowing needs, the service brakes will remain cool and ready to provide their maximum stopping power when needed.

I use the Jake to slow down, and to control speed as needed. As far as turning it off, I challenge you to give me one good reason not to turn it off on the interstate with no traffic. If I had a fleet of truck drivers, I would certainly tell them to leave the Jake on too. The truck drivers we see these days do about everything except drive their truck. They are all over the lanes, eating, on the phone, and who knows what else. Emulating truck drivers is not on my list.

As far as the neck-snapping go with the down-shifts, I paid particular attention to gear shifts going through Yellowstone. I found most downshifts are no worse than putting the transmission in gear starting out. Also some shifts, particularly with the performance setting on (no Jake), were as harsh as any downshifts with the Jake. I drove through the park mostly with the Jake on, with the 2nd gear setting, I get immediate braking when I lift off the throttle, just in case of animals–no need to reach for the shift pad. Did see an elk about to jump out, but he changed his mind.

Prevost owners talk about how Prevosts are built beavy duty and will last a million miles. yet you tell everyone to baby the coach. Can’t talk out of both sides of your mouth!

    Tom,

Last I heard, truck drivers have stick shifts–different ballgame. Besides, most of the truckers we see these days are busy eating, updating their log, talking on the phone etc. When I drive, I concentrate on my driving and managing the cockpit to include the cruise on and off as needed, Jake on and off as needed, while paying attention to traffic all around, and particularly in front. Besides, I bet I can hit the Jake switch a lot faster than a trucker can downshift.

    Harry,

The reason for the no engine brake signs you see is that some trucks, somehow has the exhaust bypass the muffler(s), when the Jake is engaged, which makes a very loud noise, not dear to many towns. As far as I know, all motorhomes with Jakes route the exhaust through the mufflers at all times, and are much quieter when the Jake is engaged. With the Jake on, the exhaust valve opens at the top of what would be the power stroke, and you get a loud popping sound. Unmuffled, it gets very loud.

    Enjoy Guys!

We are in Sisters, OR doing a build, but have an Elcipse party ourselves with the Habitat folks since we’re within that 70 mile band for the total eclipse.

    Cheers!

    Tru dat, Tom.

I got very used to that setup on my Affinity, and like it that way. When we are on the interstate nowhere near other cars, I see no need to leave the Jake on. As we go through downhills and uphills, I engage it as necessary. It makes it much easier in heavy traffic–going through Austin as an example. In heavy traffic, I leave it engaged, and the transmission will shift up when traffic speed increases, and when it slows, I lift my foot off the throttle, and get instant braking. Most of the time on the open road, the Jake stays off. If I leave it engaged on the highway, it will slow down when I don’t need slowdown–I let the coach coast downhill whenever I can, as long as speed does not exceed about 75 MPH.

We have discussed the 10-year rule before, and it still does not make sense. If campgrounds want to keep out ratty, old RVs, they ought to say so instead. Last time we were asked for a picture was at Treetops in Ft. Worth, I did send a picture of our 20-year old Country Coach Affinity, and was OK’d. When we got to the campground, there were mostly cheap trailers there, including several with obvious long-term residents that hardly lent a lot of class to the place! Perhaps it is time for us Prevost owners to boycott the campgrounds with a 10-year rule!

The site times out so if someone is accessing it via a public computer like a library or hotel and fails to log out it minimizes the opportunity for bad people to get information about our members such as their email addresses.

We have over 3100 members, but we have had more than twice that amount register to become members. More have been deleted because they have come from countries known to hack sites or because they appeared to want access to harvest information about our members or sell something like adult toys. Once someone who does not belong can enter the site they can get at information we deem very private such as email addresses, when people are on the road, or where some of our members are at any given moment. We do not have the ability to send or receive PMs because it compromises security.

We know of another site where a person signed up as a member and with that he accessed email and public profile information and information from signature lines to sell products or services.

A lot of things inconvenient about the site were there to restrict those who are not legitimate Prevost enthusiasts from getting to or information about our members. Too bad we have to be that way but we want people to have confidence when they become members they are not going to have trouble as a result of being members.

The red circle is where the flat cap goes and the green circle is where the pressure cap goes.

The purpose of the locations is to prevent hot coolant from spewing when the pressure cap is released. Do not remove the flat cap with the pressure cap still set. Let the poressure out first.
