Wish I knew what you all are talking about!

Bernie,
Truck drivers don’t have to worry about sitting next to idiot RVers at truck stop anymore. They take their food to go and eat it on the road while updating their log. BTW, I see you have an RV!!!!
Jon,
You are just not listening to facts. 2,100 is the limit under power. If you are stepping on the throttle in gear, the limit is 2,100. If you apply throttle with the Jake on, the Jake will disengage. If you are at 2,500+ RPM with the Jake, the transmission will upshift. If you are going downhill and building speed, it means you are going too fast for the Jake, and need to apply brakes until the transmission downshifts. Ideally you want to find a gear that requires little or no use of service brakes, while keeping RPMs below 2,500. You are just plain wrong on this, Jon!

Thanks Charles, it must be a huge improvement.

I use google and when the trip involves more than a day I doodle around about the distance I want to travel that day and set a destination (waypoint) on my route and then do a search for what I want for an overnight spot.
I have learned how to play with it, adding and deleting destinations and waypoints and zoom in when I want to see detail.
But I am sure someone will tell you haw to get Siri to just guide you as you drive so you don’t have to mess with any kind of trip planning. Just tell her where your destination is, let her tell you when to turn and when you get tired ask her to find a spot to park for the night.
It is my understanding there is an app now that connects Siri to the bus cruise control and adaptive braking, plus the lane change feature and she will actually drive the bus for you if you want to get up to make coffee or just go read a magazine.

inquiring minds want to know!! How did you do? Driving that bus may not be good training for race car driving!!

I thought that I had replied to Tim last night but my reply is apparently still floating around in the cloud somewhere. When I went to see my post the thread said that I had the last post but it showed Tim’s as the last. So I’ll try again.
First of all I want to thank you all for your help. It just goes to show that my dues have been well justified.
We are doing well. S&S Denver never called back. I also never heard from Arrow Stage Lines even though I talked to them and sent them my VIN as they requested. When I contacted All Aboard America by phone the voice mail box did not give a name for its owner and I received an undeliverable for the follow-up email that I sent. I’ll contact the company on Monday through their general number on Monday. We will be near Prevost’s Mira Loma, CA facility in a couple months so maybe that’s where we will have to have the service.
We live full time in the coach so I don’t have a way to do any chassis work or inspections on my own.
As for the bus:
- The hub spun smoothly (wheel off) and I could not detect any resistance. This was before any work was done.
- The brake engaged when the parking brake was applied. Also before any work was done.
- The bearing looked fine.
- The rear seal was intact and did not leak. I don’t know if it may have been compromised.
- The disk was not perfectly smooth but it did not appear to be warped.
- The pads were toast.
- The calipers looked like they were overheated so they may also need replacement.
- The hub oil and seal were changed out.
- The pads were readjusted so that they had more clearance.
We we plan to head to Santa Fe as planned on Sunday. I will compare the hub oil temperature of both tag axle wheels about every hour for the first several hours and if all is ok then I’ll check it about everybody 2 hours which is our regular time for a break. If there is a delta of 50 degrees or so then we will evaluate our options at that time.
If I am missing something please let me know.
Thanks again everyone.

None of my three coaches came with any documentation. What I ended up doing was a search by whatever means possible.
It is time consuming and involves a lot of research, but the bottom line is every coach is almost a collection of purchased parts the converter assembles into making a coach.
The information on the chassis is on the Prevost Car web site and is extensive. It is too much to copy, but as long as the files can be accessed when on the road all that is needed is to bookmark them.
The house is a different story. This is where the internet comes into play. I have copied or gotten copies of owner or user manuals for appliances, various devices such as water pumps and aux compressors, batteries and sensors, the toilet and the CB radio. Things like A/Cs and Aquahot or Webasto are required because of their importance and potential need for more than a superficial understanding.
Its a lot of work, but it also answers a lot of questions. Almost every single component or system presents clues with manufacturer’s names and often model numbers printed on them.
What is often absent however will be operating clues we learn either the hard way or by talking to others. That is where the forum and articles come into play. Royale has a club and one great source of converter specific information will be available through that group.

Ronald,
My two cents worth.. Take the bus to Alaska. Keep it on pavement and use a toad to go off road. Use the Alaskan Marine Highway system to go as remote as you want. We spent about a month in Alaska with our bus and toad and it was the BEST part of our 15 month trip to all 49 states. So good in fact Lauren and I will return without the kids sometime and goto even more remote locations.. Sure there are risks but as long as you us common sense you should be fine. Happy to chat by phone or by email if you want more details. A former member of this forum Gil helped me talk my wife into going and like I said best part of the trip. We drove the Alaskan Highway in and then took the ferry out from Haines 5 day inside passage to Bellingham, WA…

Robert has (in an email) mentioned several factors that need to be considered before a determination can be made as to the cause of the pad disintegration. He has indicated he will respond to questions from owners on a one to one basis because before offering advice on possible causes he needs to get all the facts.
He will not respond to questions on the forum.
In his response to my emails he did indicate there are a number of things that can cause the problems shown and for any advice or recommendations he needs to talk directly to the owner of the coach.
Anyone who has this issue or suspects there is an issue should contact Robert of the Prevost customer support team directly.

I’m not trying to discourage you from using CatView but there is another way way to look up parts without it.
I download the most current parts manual in PDF form and open it using a web browser or PDF viewer. There is a table of contents near the front of the file that, in by Chrome browser, I can click on the various sections and the browser will go directly there. With just a little practice I can find almost anything rather quickly.
Your mileage may vary.
