Like while driving or having dinner? Nice to know the site and replies are so important people miss getting notification of posts.

Sounds like me about the cell phones, Jon. I have a smart phone thinking it will make me look smart. Doesn’t. Actually, I don’t where it is half the time and the other half I don’t know how to work it.

Sometimes, if someone has posted or is following a post on a matter of strong interest, having the notifications feature working would be handy rather than frequently signing in to check on whether there is any input on that topic of interest. Linda

You’re right Jerry, the modification click box has never worked and is a very handy thing. In truth any web site with the kind of dues we pay should have it. Actually once we make a post we should be automatically subscribed to that thread and be notified of all future posts.

Like Kirby said, Its especially handy when you have interest in multiple threads so you’re notified of a new post. It sure beats trying to remember the last poster or post number or thread name! And contrary to popular belief we don’t make or read all posts from a phone. Many of us use a phone, tablet and/or computer! So much for your phone craziness Jon! 🙂

I believe our webmaster made the change on his own. I think he felt everybody should read every post so he disabled that function that allowed people to only know of a response to their favorite thread.

Then Jon, in my humble opinion you need another webmaster! I’ve been in the database and website business almost 20 years and that is an outlandish statement from your “webmaster”!

I don’t think you could find a single forum where you’re not notified of a new post to a thread you’ve subscribed! For your webmaster to make such a statement I question their credentials!

If I positioned myself as a Prevost expert and said I didn’t know about OTR what would you think of my expertise? That’s how outrageous his statement is!!! If the webmaster doesn’t know something as basic as this I wonder what else he doesn’t know?

And Jon and Tom, a website is not rocket science… You’ve had them working on this for months!

I’m sorry but this one has really tripped my trigger! Let me know if you want my resignation…

Yes, it would be nice to have the notication feature as it is convenient when following a thread. Personally, I would like to see it where it doesn’t time out so often so I don’t have to keep clicking to log in.

But it’s free, so why am I complaining?

The site times out so if someone is accessing it via a public computer like a library or hotel and fails to log out it minimizes the opportunity for bad people to get information about our members such as their email addresses.

We have over 3100 members, but we have had more than twice that amount register to become members. More have been deleted because they have come from countries known to hack sites or because they appeared to want access to harvest information about our members or sell something like adult toys. Once someone who does not belong can enter the site they can get at information we deem very private such as email addresses, when people are on the road, or where some of our members are at any given moment. We do not have the ability to send or receive PMs because it compromises security.

We know of another site where a person signed up as a member and with that he accessed email and public profile information and information from signature lines to sell products or services.

A lot of things inconvenient about the site were there to restrict those who are not legitimate Prevost enthusiasts from getting to or information about our members. Too bad we have to be that way but we want people to have confidence when they become members they are not going to have trouble as a result of being members.

I was just kidding but even so, I’ve seen some Liberty’s out there that I am not sure I would feel comfortable showing to my mother. Once again, just kidding (sort of).

I log in and go to the “Forum” page and between two gray buttons on the right hand side there is a sentence that says “View Post Since Your Last Visit” click that line and that takes me to newest posts. I select post I want (actually I start at the bottom and work my way to the top of the page)and there is a button on the right side that says “Since Last Read” that takes me to just below the last part I had read on that post. Quick and simple and lets me see all of the new posts disparaging Jon, rather than just the ones I selected by clicking a button.
