  • Superbus Convertor

Posted by Archived on September 1, 2017 at 1:09 pm

I am always looking at what is for sale.

One convertor that apparently did a bunch of 40 ft. Prevosts was Superbus. I understand they did 17 of about 20 available 40ft. Buses at the time which was around 2007.

Specifically, does anyone have information on their conversions. I know its not a Marathon or Liberty but it does look nice and there is still a Prevost under there.

I never heard of them., but the devil is in the details. Any conversion on a Prevost chassis has that much going for it. But there are differences in conversions and as a buyer you have to comparison shop. Your budget and how you use your coach will narrow what it is you seek. Every coach is a compromise, but some have great capacities in holding tanks and batteries so they are better for dry camping. The downside is those things take up room so you may lose needed storage in the bays.

So when you look at any coach you have to look at the layout and systems to decide if it works for how you will use the coach. If the converter is traditionally building entertainer coaches look hard at miles and hours and make sure the systems are not built just to be adequate to run from one venue to another and then end up oarked next to a theater or arena.

A lot of uncommon conversions have been built with simle but robust systems.

I’m some what familiar with this converter you refer to as Superbus. At least for the past two years. What questions do you have. The information you have shared about Superbus is accurate from my understanding.

Jon, you have seen our bus, once while in Lakeland at Carisle and you offered to park it. And then in Vonore for the Know your Prevost seminar.

Great. It looks like you could answer some questions. Thank you Jim.

I have an interest in a 40 ft. unit and one of them turned out to be a Superbus although it was not advertised that way. I called the owner and he had very few issues with the conversion. He felt is was less complex than some and said that It could go places that would be off limits to most. We travel in hot country in the summer and I like the idea of roof airs which it had. Valid slides.

Your thoughts about the conversion . It seems to me with the advent of slides that Prevost could sell some 40 ft. units as a contemporary alternative to 45 ft. buses.

The conversion is built more on a simplistic design. It does not have complicated systems. There are no iPads or automated systems to maintain. It does have eight 8D batteries with two Trace inverters that do run two of the roof airs without needing to run the generator. I say this because if your generator has a problem you still have options while out on the road.

I think it would be easiest to speak to you on the phone to answer any questions. I have sent an email to you with my cell number. Or if you prefer I can respond here. Let me know your preference.
