Not only raise the bus if practical, but cool off the surface you are sitting on by spraying some water on it.

Hey Harry,
When I bought our coach 5 years ago, the Jakes were not working. I found that a couple of wires were unplugged under the valve covers for the master Jake units. On the 8V92 there is 2 master units and 2 slave units under each valve cover. There are other reasons for weak Jakes that appear to not work, but that was my issue.

Jim, we have 145,000 miles now, and have no identifiable symptoms. Ten years ago when we got it, didn’t know if it had ever been done, still don’t. From reading, Detroit says to do it at 60,000 miles and ur done until rebuild. From hearsay, don’t do it until u have symptoms or diminished performance. But at twenty-three years we will b taking advantage of the situation by replacing everything we can think of.

I’ve never had that problem with Vantare slides, seals are very robust, and not air inflated. The Slide awning covers keep most of the debri off the top of the slides, which are wider than the slides. When the slides are retracted, everything falls off. Top of the slides are tapered so that any moisture runs off.

I neglected to raise the question, but I will see if I can get an answer. Good point, but it is an example of something you cannot do anything about if it does influence the rolling diameter of the tires.
We did discuss both heat and tire wear on the inside drive axle wheels. We did thermal imaging and saw tire temps rise and reach equilibrium. The inner tire was warmer than the outer tire. On this forum we speculated it was due to proximity to the engine or transmission. What it turns out to be is the axles flex (hard to believe but evidently proven by Michelin) and the inner dual gets slightly more weight on it as a result of the flex. Not enough to require any changes, but enough to be able to measure the increased temp. They take temps the same way we do and the hot spots on all tires is at the edge of the tread just where it merges with the sidewall. This is where the bands are flexing the most and it is the flexing of the bands inside the tire plies that increases the temp.

place, like going back in time, however they seem knowledgeable, with modern
and expensive tools and equipmentAnd

I agree wth everything Tom said. From what I know the new Pressure Pro system is as good as it gets today. The Smartire sytem is not avialble. When my sensors stop functioning, and they will has the batteries stop, I will get the new Pressure Pro system. We must have temperature as well as pressure monitoring. As I said, the pressure in the tire staying normal with the temps rising is what alerted me to the probable brake or hub problem.

Very sad, once again shows the strength of the Prevost chassis and the safety of the coaches….I cant imagine that with any other chassis out there….

A low refrigerant prior to crapping out often will do OK, but the evaporator on one with low coolant is prone to icing up. If the fan speed and maybe low humidity were just right it might seem to be working OK just before the freon level reaches the point where it won’t work.

Got it, I’ll inspect the hose and wiring.
