Prevost H3 vs. XL
I’m seeing a LOT of H3’s for sale, many more in fact than XL’s. What is wrong with the H3’s that everyone seems to want to sell them? Personally I like the “Bus” look that an XLII provides. The H3’s look more like a “motorhome” to me. And they seem a bit more intimidating being taller than an XL.

I think it’s coincidence.
H3’s have taller storage bays. A lot of people like that. I’m like you though, I like the “tour bus” look!

There is nothing wrong with H3’s. As far as I know, there are more of them being converted than the XLII (X3 now). Liberty is only converting H3 shells.
I have had both and the H3 is much better for storage. It also rides as well and handles just as well as an XLII. I don’t think I would go back. There is no confusing the H3 with a plastic coach.

The later the model year, the less X coaches in production compared to H.

It’s all about personal likes…had an XL now an H. Prefer the H, but will always prefer the looks of an XL or XLII. Geo.

Thanks everybody. Just wondered why so many were unloading their H3’s. They are both great looking coaches. I think the Xll will work better for our needs. I’m still mourning the loss of the “one that got away” I’m not sure we’ll find another like it. But I’m still looking. I think we have now seen every Prevost for sale in the country online! -
It’s also my understanding that the X3’s can only have two slides max.
So, if you want 3 or 4 slides, it will be a H-3.

Two slides is fine for me. However I do like that the H3’s have 1.5 baths! You don’t see that in the X ‘s. -
Not all H3’s have 1.5 baths. There are some, but not as many as only 1 bath.

I don’t want no stinking slides. Too much probability of multipleproblems. Just ask Truck4U, he has a list of why no slides.As for looking at buses on line, that is great but in this case a picture may not be worth a thousand words. For example just before Christmas of 2006 the wife an I started out for the cold north land of Lansing Michigan. I know wrong time of year to travel that direction. Anyway we arrived amid a wintry mix of precipitation and the next day went to look at a Royal conversion. As I appraoched the bus I noticed the tires were non-matched to a single manufacturer and worse they all had the look of tires having served on concrete mixers. Inside, the sliding bathroom closet that should have an automatic switch to turn on the closet light was inoperable. Can’t find that in no stinking internet picture. Beyond that, the owner had taken a toggle on/off switch, attached the two wires from the inoperable closet switch and left it hanging in mid air behind the right side sliding door.
Turns out the owner of the coach also had recently sold his Ready Mix concrete plant. So the tires were likely from several of his trucks. We begged off and bought out coach from an outfit in Conover NC while still in Lansing Michigan.
The wife and I had the most fun trapsing around the country from Florida to Virginia and from NC to Kansas. No we did not find Toto in Kansas either. So buckle up that seat belt and get on the road to see in person the coaches you think would fit your needs. Most of the time in this case a picture is not worth a thosand words. After all, how do you know just when the pictures were taken, yesterday or yester years.

Great post! I was leary of slides as well, but the idea of having more room to move around is a good thing. But I’ve read about some issues folks had with their slides. And some camp sites are too small for the slides to extend I’ve also heard. So there’s that to think about.our intention is to actually travel to see the coach if we find one online that looks like it might work for us. I don’t think we want to fly around the country looking for a coach. I would rather just go see the ones I’m interested in.The coaches that we’ve been interested in, have gone quick, before we could get a flight so they must have been good coaches along with good prices (for a Prevost ) that is.

The best way to help you evaluate what coach you want to buy is to start with a budget. That alone helps narrow the search. Determine how you plan to use the coach and Consider what features would make that type of use more comfortable or advantageous.
Then do whatever you can to see coaches. That opportunity to see coaches, either at a show, or owner’s invitation or at a dealer will help put things in perspective. You get a sense of scale, you see how the floor plan flows and you detect things you see in person, but that do not show up on photos.
A good thing to consider is to try to come to a rally or gathering and tour a lot of coaches and talk to the owners to see if they have likes and dislikes and how the floorplan works for them. Oysterfest is coming up and I am sure folks would show you their coaches and discuss their likes and dislikes.

I do have a question for you fine folks with slides… (I know there are fine folks without slides too) :o)
What do you do if you are under a tree that is dropping leaves, pine needles, pine cones, berries, etc?
Do you clean the top of your slides or just hope that nothing gets caught under the seal?
Do you extend your awning to cover the slides?
I try to pick a spot in the open but it’s not always possible. I have a long extention handle with a mirror on the end to check the tops. I want to treat my seals with care.
If I find something on top, I will pull out my handy-dandy extention ladder and clean the tops with my extention rod with a terry clothe wiper.

Mark, I do the same thing. Get out the ladder and brush off the top of the slide.
