Ron in my 99 Marathon non slide with 470hp vs my friends 03 Marathon with one slide I am a few thousand pounds lighter and regularly out climb him on the hills and get about 1mpg better fuel economy. Having been east and west the 470hp has never been an issue whatsoever, but like Dick said you always want more power, but I set it about 62 and set back and enjoy the trip.

Interesting, I can’t find a Bridgestone 365 on their site. Maybe I’m looking in the wrong place.

Chip, enjoy your free time, it will pass too quickly. If that XL across the street has a red Mini, it may be Roger Foster, a nicer person you will never meet. Always smiling, just don”t buy a used cxar from him as it is probably one from Houston with water still in the ashtray.

Thank you again for your and Pam’s service, enjoy what you have earned.

    Just curious:

My generator seems to smoke more than it should. Just wondering if loading it to the max and running it for a while might improve that. Often, the AGS fires it up with no more than a single AC and other light duty stuff on line….Think that might be getting it jammed up? ty

Despite the delay incident I mentioned above we have never had a problem fueling. Frequently drivers give a thumbs up or come over and ask about the bus. Most of them say it’s their dream to have one.

Buddy is like the Energiser Bunny. He’s reorganised that thing continuously since it arrived and kept ETLC sparking at the same time. Even the new plants are smiling. What a fine gentleman.

It’ll be sad, sort of, to finally leave tomorrow. But full marks to Jeff and the boys for never giving up on solving a puzzling problem. And for Prevost’s standing by their product.

Tomorrow morning we’ll visit the Truk Dump and be on our way. Buddy was excited. He said, “I’ll be there with my camera”.

I got mine at my local kubota tractor place. Just take number down off side. Napa might be able to get it. Didn’t help mine after change out. Going to replace water pump and 160 degree therostat today and see if that helps. Heck mine (15 KW) only has 388 hours on it since new in 1991. Never have used it and when I have in 90 degree + weather has always shut down. Blower runs. Also had a shop look at it several years ago and they cut new vents in floor and added another pusher fan and checking the large one sucking air though. .

I agree with Jim about wondering how you completed the trip.

One thing optimistic folks need to understand on these coaches is that the warning lights and the gauges are trying to tell us something and when we choose to ignore them there can be consequences. Some problems require no immediate action, especially if we have some alternate means to deal with the problem, such as a failed alternator if we have an onboard battery charger and the ability to avoid the use of lights or OTR.

Some lights can be ignored if we know them to be based on false readings. A bad coolant level sensor is one example and by jumping between the two pins on the plug we can avoid a shutdown.

But sometimes the cost of ignoring an unknown warning light or gauge reading can get expensive. It is always the best decision to stop and determine what is going on. Then based on that information it can be determined if resuming travel is prudent. The good news is a lot of the indications of problems can be sensor or monitor problems, but until that is determined to be the case the best thing to do is to stop.

No need for speculation about batteries now because once the new starter is installed that potential problem is going to be quickly ruled in or out.

    Harry,

Previous owners and used car sales people typically will do a lot of “Puffing” about any question you may have. Your problem may be putting too much stock into the “Puffing” you have been given. I as others hope the repair on your starter and replacement of the solinoid solve your problem. I don’t think the problem tha toasted the solinoid will be solved by the rebuild of the starter.

A few yrs ago I heard that the converters are taking the 50DN off the new chassis they get to put something larger on their new conversions, so they have like new 50DNs sitting on the shelf and are willing to sell them for a lot less than new
