My 91 Beaver Coach Problems
A quick overview… Picked up coach in Austin, TX and drove it to Murphy, NC. On the way the engine light came on and speed dropped to 55 but all gages read as they should. Anytime I slowed to around 10 or came to a complete stop the max speed was 15. It would stay at 15 for 1/3 mile to a mile and then go back to 55. If I came to a stop and turned off the engine and turned it back on it would run at any speed I wanted for 10 to 15 miles and then the red light came back on and revert back to max speed of 55. This cycle continued through the entire 1100 miles.
Today I went to the coach because I made an appointment with Clark Power Service in Knoxville, TN to address the above issues. I opened the bay door flipped the two battery disconnects for the engine batteries to the on position and then the one for the house batteries in the other bay. I had a big smile on my face because I was going to drive my baby for the first time since I brought her home on May 5th.
But my smile was short lived because it cranked a couple times and and then nothin. I called Mr. 91 Beaver Coach Genius Jim Lane (thank you Jim) who walked me through some ideas but no joy! I called Good Sam’s and they sent out a guy to jump the batteries but again no joy! He said he did not think it was the batteries. If I wanted him to come back tomorrow to take the batteries out and check them he would do so but again, did not believe that was the problem. We checked all the breakers etc but everything checked out. He gave me two names of diesel folks here in Murphy for me to call tomorrow. I guess that’s what I have to do, I feel like I’m out of options.
It just seems strange to me that I had the trouble coming home and now this… Oh well!
