More free advice worth every penny that was paid for it……..
If the tag can be lifted high enough to clear the road (doubtful, but lets pretend) then the drive axle tires will be at or above their load carrying capacity and all other associated components such as bearings, air bags, etc will be well beyond the Prevost axle limits.
It would be far less risky if a trailer is not part of the solution to get someone to do what is necessary to remove or release the caliper even if it means destroying it in the process. With the heat associated with a locked caliper it is probably junk any way. I would start by trying to cage it and if that did not work the next step would be to try to remove the caliper and disc and if needed replace the disc to drive it to a repair facility.
I would be very concerned if the heat of a dragging brake was enough to “weld” the caliper to the disc the tire and wheel almost certainly were subjected to a lot of heat so they might have to be replaced.
Lady Luck was at work here because from the description a fire was almost certain.

We are all here now to give you the needed support so you can pull the trigger. In fact the easiest part of Prevost ownership is actually selecting and buying one.
Learning about your new Prevost is like trying to drink from a fire hose and the learning never stops, ever.

For me the best part was the blonde, known as the Redhead paid off a bet she made about 10 or 20 years ago. She says she will never acknowledge payment because it would suggest she was actually wrong once. All I can say is : Poor Dan.

If (when) I have to replace my regulator, since all my batts are agm, I will buy the 3-stage regulator. Can’t remember name or where to buy, but it’s been discussed on our site.

O’Reilly Auto Parts sells erasers that attach to drill motors. It will take it off and works great.

Slides? Yes we have one slide, it’s under the generator, and it’s manual, and is all of the slide risk I prefer. “Automatic” and “reliable” are mutually exclusive in my world. Just totally personal paranoia.

Note to TOM…Never had a “stinkin’ slide”… what ever did you do to make a slide stink?? Just askin’!!??
Our ’98 Vantare H3-45 had HWH slides with D-seals that were easy to replace if need be… they worked well and parts were easy to get as hundreds of RVs have HWH slides.
Our 2005 has Prevost installed slides and they work very well but have the inflatable seals which are a PIA if they rupture so I hear.
There’s always a price to pay for “bells & whistles” no matter what they are…my motto is… just get what you want and enjoy it… if it breaks fix it and go on down the road. Been there and done that many times.
Cheers, Diane

Dropped the bus off at Marathon today. On the way The bus cycled from 195 to 205 on the water. The oil (trans) temps stayed below 200 but ran from 185 on up to 200. Cycles were not as extreme as yesterday but they were still there. Marathon will check it out for me to see if it is the relays or clutch or thermostat. They can check the DDEC codes.
After i dropped off at Marathon we took the toad up to Prevost. I talked to a mechanic about my temps. He said it sounded like the thermostats. Said the low side thermostat could be bad and causing the high side to kick in thus the cycles. I’ll see what Marathon comes up with and go from there.
I will replace the clutch no matter what. I have no records showing it being changed.

One of our members, a fulltimer, when I asked how he determined when to head south told me “If I go three days and can’t wear shorts, I’m too far north.”
…..He’s in Tucson now……

Ya know Dick,
One of the advantages to getting your Bus is because you can long distances, say like Florida or Arizona, in the winter time to escape those Wisconsin winters!

Per, I feel your pain… I was separated from my bus for a number of months and even though I didn’t have it all that long. I missed the opportunity to spend time and learn more about her. I wish I had the option of having my bus by the house but living on top of a mountain doesn’t work. But its within 15 minutes so visitation isn’t too bad.
Do you have a picture of the new shades you’re putting in? Shades are a big deal so how about showing them off. Electric or manual?

Tim,
With the cover open, spray some silicone on the edge where the cover sits on the bottom. It will eliminate the stuck cover and open smoothly.
