Broke down
Posted by Chas on January 2, 2018 at 5:40 pmAnd turned on the webasto. I’m not going the way of the dinosaurs!
As most of the time, something is working fine and keeping me nice and toasty.

No, I broke down and started using the webasto rather then the cruise airs. Temps were pushing past my comfort levels as well as past the capabilities of the heat exchange in the AC’s.
Hopefully this cold snap will break and I can go back to working on my flip flop tan lines 🙂

The words “broke down” to all of us means you have a mechanical problem and need help.

“Gave in”
I’m testing mine, going on a short trip tomorrow, to Lakeland.

Looking like tonight will be another night to run the webasto. Only issues I saw was some soot from the exhaust pipe.

Oh Charles I’m so relieved. I was waiting for your post to share where you were and what the problem was so that if you were close by I could load the car with tools and come to your aid.
We had 21*F one night at ETLC. I was running three Cruise-Airs. I checked the discharge temp with a digital meat thermometer and had 93*F, 83, and I think 72*F … I should have written that down. I was really impressed. My previous low record for using the C-A’s was 27*F. I wish I had temp indicators either side of the things that hot in the coach when you’re trying to heat (evaporators?) then I could calc the delta T which in my mind is the true test of efficiency.

Dick,
27 here this morning in the sunshine states center. At least the sun is out?
Cruise Airs are actually working okay this morning, much better then what I expected. I know our first days in the coach brining it back from tx to ATL, it was cold and we didn’t understand that at a certain point, the cruise airs wouldn’t heat. It was cold that night until I decided to run the webasto.

It certainly is a learning process isn’t Charles. Whether trying to figure out when the Cruise-Airs stop heating or where the GFIs are … we unravel one mystery after another.
