Hey Red…Semper Fi….have a good time
-
I’ve
had the 760 for about 6 months and really like it, but it will lead
you astray like any other GPS. The built-in campground data base is
good and provides all information you need except for the low hung
freaking tree’s. Another good feature is the rest area’s, they will
pop up on the map as you’re driving, a feature Jon likes since he has
to pee every 57 miles. -
I use to live in Beaumont, I would look elswere.East Texas is beautiful but go a little north from Bmt. The weather is not great humid, rains alot, and dont know of a good park.

Update:
(2) new batteries put in. Nice clean 12 volt power. They bench tested and said batteries were bad as if some surge of power took them out.
I was hoping that I would be able to run everything (including the 12 volt interior lights) with just the genny. Well it is not to be. I get everything but the interior lights on the genny. So for the time being I will to flip my Domstic 12 Volt batter switch on in the cabin for lighting.
I will have to really look over the Freedom 2500 inverter to see where the re-set breaker or fuse is to make certain that it is not tripped. The inverter appears to be working according to the idicator lights with a solid green light showing it is on and a blinking green light showing it charging.
There has to be some type of breaker or something I blew that is not allowing the 12 volt side to be brought into the coach using the genny.
Further proof of a possible surge- Back A/C roof top unit not turning on. The thermostat has good battery and it calling for air. When I switch over to fan- it does not even come on… Maybe the surge toatsted the capacitor? Will have to get an HVAC person up on the roof to look at.
As well my DVD theater surround sound system is toast. It no longer turns on.
So, batteries, a/c unit and theater system – toast.
Lesson learned- do not let a friend use bus to going camping over the week-end. Have no idea what he did or how he tried to hook up to shore power.
Damage is done- now trying to work through this one thing at a time.
Long day…..
Tully

Mike, fix the air leaks ?
-
Tully,
What batteries are you using, 4D or 8D and are they AGM or wet? As Andre pointed out, make sure your chargers are not the problem. If you have a bad battery in the bank, the charger will continue to charge and never reach the float stage and the overcharge could or has destroyed the others in the process.

That 2000 Marathon H is just gorgeous… shame you missed it… I bet some fussy ass guy bought it and has it in hiding getting it all up to snuff… who knows !!
Keep looking… you will find one.

Congratulations to all the new owners. This is great on so many levels. There are going to be a lot of folks with grins running up and down the road, maybe, just maybe the market is coming alive so our depreciation will slow down to a more normal level, and if we are really lucky we will see fuel back down to a buck a gallon.
OK, just kidding about the last one.

Grizz, thats a nice trip, we do Fr Qtr from Sarasota every Jan. Looking forward to meeting you at PP.

Our mirrors don’t shake or rattle. But they are cast aluminum with the “Beaver” logo molded into the case. No need to re chrome, just polish like an airstream.-)))

It’s the annual Hog pilgrimage to Sturgis, we did it many years pulling a trailer with plastic coaches and then Prevosts. Always got harassed by buddies who wear a t-shirt that said, “I rode mine to trailer week.” You never know about the Sturgis weather, but 90% of the time it was brutal hot. Over the years we got to see more and more Prevosts and it seems that still is holding true today based on what you’re seeing westbound. Nothing like riding in that heat all day and then getting to the campground and entering the bus with the A/C’s at full tilt.
We’re now woosies and did it this year with the Jeep. Hmm, Custer Park with the A/C cranked down, my how times have changed.

Tom and Nancy,
We visited the ranch back in March for a special occasion and Peter and Trina treated us like royalty. Has Peter taught you how to,operate the fire truck if need be?
Have a safe time,
Dave

But, if you do a search for rest areas almost all listings on the internet will provide a mile marker to help give their relative location.

UKG,
The principles for your future purchase still apply. First, set a budget. Then determine how you intend to use the coach. If your use is for a lot of driving with minimal long term parking think about Prevost over the road heat and air and maybe even a non slide coach. If your intent is to remain in one spot long term such as a month in an RV resort at a time then maybe slides become very important and OTR less important.
If dry camping is more probable than going from RV park to RV park, look for a coach with a lot of battery capacity and large holding tanks. If more than 2 of you will be traveling maybe look at coaches with bunks, possibly an entertainer conversion.
In the meantime ask questions on the forum. Look at the articles, go to all the ads for coaches for sale, and ask questions. Did I mention you might want to ask questions? The point being you will be very prepared when the time comes to buy a coach. It is reasonable to assume if you have a presence on the forum and people get to know you from your posts and questions that when you are ready to buy you may already have another member working with you to sell his or her coach so they can buy their next coach.
With the time you have allowed you will be very much aware of what type of coach will be ideal for you, what type floor plan or features are important, and the price range of coaches that meet your needs. Welcome aboard. You cam to the right place.
As to rallies or shows, I would recommend you start the process of learning where you can get a vast array of opinions and ideas. The problem with a show is the seller is always going to steer you towards what he has for sale. Here on the forum you can get a wide cross section of opinions so you can form your own ideas of needs. Then go to a rally or show because then you will get a sense of scale and the photos you have looked at will now be viewed by you with greater understanding of how the actual floor plan or layout is.
I am an advocate of towing 4 down. A trailer allows you to bring along a lot of extras such as motorcycles, golf cart, extra tools, clothes, and bags of money, but the stacker is not convenient at some RV resorts. Some don’t allow them on site. Again, here is where you can ask opinions. The more weight you tow, the more fuel you use. But for some the value of having the extra room a stacker provides more than offests the loss of fuel economy or performance.

2500 is just for the ECM out here in the west most truckers and buses run the Performance Diesel setup from St George Ut it can get into the 10 grand + range with the ECM, manifold, turbo and cam not worth it on a RV IMO enjoy the ride
