Does anyone else have this GPS? It’s supposed to keep you out of trouble by
avoiding roads that are too small, have bridges your coach can’t drive under,
etc.You enter the length, height and width of your coach and the
navigation computations should lead you to your destination without mishap
concerning those three measurements.
Well it doesn’t always get it right!
In fact, so far it hasn’t led me anywhere that a car GPS wouldn’t. It’s been inaccurate so many times now that I
don’t trust that it would not steer me to a low clearance bridge.In New Orleans headed to FQRV it chose three small streets of
90 degree very tight turns (parked cars everywhere) of broken concrete
road and large holes, when one block away there was a direct turn off Clairborne
to the common entrance/exit road.In FL it has sent me on several long runs of 10 to 20 miles in the wrong
direction (instead of making a turn) only to direct me to make a U-turn to come
back from the other direction.Anyone using this GPS should check bridge clearances on the
AITA web site or Rand McNally trucker’s atlas before venturing into areas you
are not familiar with. In fact if you
are leaving an Interstate Highway, it would be wise not to trust this GPS to
give you safe directions. -

we bought one of those good sam gps units and I have had the same problems you have had so now I just plot my own route while the wife does her thing with the gps and everytime the gps varies from my route we go with my route and I just call the gps names. this does two things, first we get where we are going without any big problems and second, it gives me something else to yell at instead of the wife. now we are both happy. well I am anyway. LOL

for about 2 years and, so far, so good. My wife likes to do her own plotting and often times uses Google Maps and we run them side by side. Almost always the same directions.
Rand McNally has just now released the latest version. It is now the RVND7730 and Good Sam’s unit is the 7735.
A GPS is a great tool and will make navigation a lot easier. But you do still have to watch your surroundings and pay attention to where you are going.

Grizz I had one threw it out the window in St. Louis it’s the shits it took me on the wrong road I went back to the road map and one gps on map to tell me what road I am on and what’s coming up

A GPS is a nice device, but I haven’t had one yet that was perfect. So I have learned to use it for the big picture, but when I am down to the last few blocks of a destination that has the potential to put me between a rock and a hard place I rely on Google maps I have printed out. Not the Google map directions, but by eyeballing the map and aerial views to not only verify how I want to leave the big road and get to my destination, but also to verify there are no surprises such as turns I can’t make, or highway dividers, or other impediments.

I’ve
had the 760 for about 6 months and really like it, but it will lead
you astray like any other GPS. The built-in campground data base is
good and provides all information you need except for the low hung
freaking tree’s. Another good feature is the rest area’s, they will
pop up on the map as you’re driving, a feature Jon likes since he has
to pee every 57 miles. -
I do not need the rest area locations. I remember the mile marker for every one on every interstate.
