The cooling fans on industrial inverters run continuously. Our techs often find bad fans on trouble calls. Most industrial UPS/inverter manufacturers recommend fan replacement on 5 or 10 year intervals.

I thought of something else I wanted to add to this discussion.
During the fuel seminar Saturday at Bella Terra “Fuel Specialist Ken” mentioned
diesel fuel being dead in 6 weeks from time of refining, I think. I never had a
chance to ask exactly what dead fuel meant. I filled up my coach last November
or so. Maybe that’s why I saw a noticeable increase in mileage, also I had double
the amount of additive in my fuel. That could also contribute to my increased MPG.
I don’t use my coach very much, my crazy employer expects me work 40 hours a week.
So it’s going be a long time for me to have any meaningful information. Thanks to
Jon’s OCDC record keeping his results should be accurate.

Ours is a ’99 shell (late one w/XLII chassis) as far as either one of us can recall, has no cracks. As I said to Tom the other day….now I got to go look….which we will do later this morning. Bus is at Parliament getting some minor tweaks. Will look closely and report back. We have some very minor bubbling at the rear fender flanges, but that is even much less than I’ve seen on a lot of much later model H’s. One of the reasons I’ve always liked what Marathon did with their fenders (the standard ones…not the 2nd and 3rd hot rod pkgs). Geo.

I beg to differ on Joel Selman’s comment about 4 Cruise Airs not keeping coach cool in Summers in TX..

We live in Texas and have kept 2 H3-45s plenty cool as in 70 degrees in the hot heat of a TX summer… our secret was to keep the bus OTR on while travelling and never let the bus get warm inside then we keep it cool running only 3 of our 4 CruiseAirs… they must be tweaked and filters always clean… never a problem for us in 4 years experience, however our Holliday Rambler (45′ 4 slides) was always HOT with 3 roof airs… one reason we traded up.

So as you can see each person’s experiences are different… we have a beach front lot and use our bus there every weekend from early May until September and never a problem and believe me it is hot there.

You will have to draw your own conclusion… I would think that 4 roof airs (if you can run 4 on 50 amps) will do a good job too, but I don’t think running three will do it…however the insulation factors between a “plastic coach” and a Prevost would be another story too.

Roof airs have a huge replacement advantage over a Cruise Air too which may be something you want to consider and any RV repair center can work on them.

There is no perfect answer !!
