PC Maps … What is wrong with this picture?
As of this afternoon, close to 1400 PC members.
As of this afternoon, a total of 74 entries in all categories.
4 Neat Places
11 Repair/Maintenance
1 Fuel Stop
14 Restaurants
44 RV Parks
A total of 43 of 74 entries were contributed by 4 people!
31 of 74 entries were contributed by 12 people.
Considering that the membership count is close to 1400 this is a very poor result.
I have a dream ( no, not that one ) but, imagine, if every PC member would contribute just one entry in every category, PC Maps would be a treasure trove unmatched by anything else in the bus world!
It is your turn now to make a contribution!

Ronald is exactly right.
We are about to populate the maps with all the Love’s locations. But we need members to add places they have stopped overnight, places they have eaten, places they got good service, or places that we just have to visit.
We are now well beyond 1500 members and as Ronald says if each member just contributed one location we would have a tremendous resource.

C’mon boys and girls, help us out with the PC map and make an entry or two. It only takes a few minutes, but will help everyone looking for campgrounds, maintenance, fuel, etc. We spent a great amount of time and money to get the map developed and all we ask is that you help populate the topics. Ronald puts up a map entry almost every day to help out.
What could be better then planning a trip and be able to view the map and pick out campgrounds that have been visited by your fellow PC members knowing the campground can accomodate your bus.

I didn’t know the map thing exisited but I dry camp a lot and know of two really good legal spots in Beverly Hills and NYC that I’m gonna figure out how to post since I now know this stuff is wanted. When I posted my travels in NYC on the old forum I had a number of members say they would never take their coach into New York but I have RV’d there extensivley and never had a problem big enough to stop me from doing it again. I’ll make those two posts now if I can figure out how the maps thing works.

Ok, I also didn’t know about the map. Under what heading is is located. I also wonder how many out of the 1500 members know it exists? Maybe one of you pro’s can Start another thread about it and maybe more folks will participate.

There does not seem to be a provison for Parking spots in the map. There is a “Parking” catagory in the forum but this mosly seems to be for people asking questoins and not so great for posting good dry camping spots. Perhaps this catagory is worth adding to the maps ?? I would suggest that this be for exceptioial or noteworthy spots that are gems to share. An RV park is a last choice for me when I can’t park on the water or with a nice view and I think those of us that favor this kind of parking would have some good locations to share. Then there are other locations where an RV park is simply not an option. Like the ones I know about in NYC.

When you log-in to PC Community and before you select a Forum heading, take a close look at the top of the page.
There you will see several small square icons. One of them is named PC Users Map.
Click on that icon and it will bring you to the PC maps section.
In here, you can select from various headers from a drop-down list.
The initial view is ALL but that is a very cluttered-up screen. You want to select something from the drop-down box.
There are options such as restaurants, neat places to visit, RV parks etc.
Select one of those and the screen view will be filtered to show you only your selection. The screen for RV parks is the one having the most entries (but still far from enough!). Click on any of the icons and it will show you the details for that particular entry.
Now … to add a new entry … look back at the top of the page or close to the top. You will see ADD YOU OWN …
Click on that and a window will open prompting you to enter the particulars. This should be pretty self-explanatory.
It is important to have an address, even if it is approximate because the LAT / LON will determine the location on the map.
You can add your own description, long or short. It is your personal opinion about the place. The more detailed your description, the better.
I think that about covers all the steps.
If I am wrong, Tom and or Jon will chime in, fer sure.

Above, below RUSSELL you ee a row of small square icons starting out with NAPA and ending with PC USERS MAP – Click on that.
Here you can see the drop down selection box I mentioned in my prior post.
A boondocking location can be added to the category of RV PARKS and Overnight Stops.

I can’t wait to hear about RV resorts in New York City. We lived on the Upper East Side (94th and Third Avenue) from 2002 to 2005. Want to go back with the Prevost and didn’t want to commute from Albany or the Poconos.
Similar deal in Beverly Hills. College roommate lives in Encino.
