Mark, the vintage Jeff has does not have the “ping” tanks associated with the suspension. but more importantly the tech that told you that is misleading you and may in fact not even know what he is talking about. More later.
Jeff, going to the trouble to add some sort of drain device or system is counter productive. I say that because if you are maintaining the air dryer it is going to keep moisture from going downstream. As the engine driven compressor ages however you are going to experience shorter intervals between dryer service because a worn compressor passes oil and the oil coats the dessicant which reduces its ability to retain moisture. But you do not have to guess at that because your coach will tell you by virtue of seeing oil around the dryer purge valve up on the frame of the coach. Any competent tech should notice that when servicing the dryer and give you a heads up regarding possible compressor replacement. The fact you are not getting moisture all but eliminates the need for frequent tank draining which if done at every service when there is access to the underside is easy.
Adding devices to remotely drain tanks is adding potential issues with leaking, either from greater exposure to road hazards or just from leaky fittings or valves.
Mark, Before you ever get a drop of water in any suspension or house components you first have to get it in the accessory tank, and then in such quantities as to start getting it carried through the system, If it reaches that point you have got water in the ping tanks, air bags and all the other valving associated with house and Prevost accessory systems and your American Express is about to get a major hit. As long as you never get moisture from the accessory tank when the techs are servicing the coach leave the suspension and ping tanks alone. If you do drain air from the ping tanks, make certain the suspension is already at it lowest level or the chassis is fully supported because bleeding air from the ping tanks is also bleeding air from the air bags and unless the air bags are already collapsed, the coach is going to come down.

Mine had the exact same symptoms as it slowly died. I bought the replacment motor and did the repair in probably 90 minutes.

Hey Prez. We saw you heading west bound west of mobile. We were in 40 footer towing Land Rover discovery with another XLII behind us. Tallahassee tonight, Marathon FL tomorrow

Thanks for that Bill, I’m glad to know that you guys love your coaches as you do. Since I’ve been paying attention I’m amazed at the number of coaches from 1987 to 94. And as you’ve said “it’s a Prevost”! Jon has been holding my hand as I’ve been wondering through the morass of things to look for and know about and as you know it’s no easy thing. And Jon if your lurking, I want to thank you again for your patience. I’m sure there have been times when you said to yourself “HJ is an idiot”! I thank you for not having that come through in our many emails!
You’ve all been terrific,
HJ

Jeff,
Thanks for posting the info for Peter. I know it is very difficult for you.
Do you know if there is any charity we could send a donation to on behalf of Peter in lieu of flowers?
Would it be better if all of us PC members ordered a set of Peter’s DVD’s?

Jon, and previous respondent, Joe,
I will make my way to NAPA today to get the line and fitting. It is a 1/4″ fitting on both ends. Thanks to both of you for replying.

I do have DirecTV at my residence but DO NOT MENTION THAT. When I’m home I update my service address to my residence. When I’m on the road I change the address to whereever I am which means my home will not get the local stations. DO NOT MENTION RV. DO NOT MENTION 2nd HOME. Just say you want to update the service address period. Any discussion about 2 homes or an RV will confuse the hell out of them. There is more information in my posts above.
If you don’t have DirecTV at home, though I haven’t tried it, it should not matter. Don’t give them more information than they need. Just update or change service address…Period.

My Marathon manual says I have a breaker for each WH in the waterbay.
I know I have the A/C breaker inside the coach for the WH’s to operate, but any idea where the breakers are in the waterbay where the WH’s are located? Maybe one tripped. Both heating elements are new.

Exactly what George describes is one of the factors that I used to in making a decision to buy a Prevost and spend the kind of money that I spent for a then 15 year old coach. (I did have people who weren’t knowledgeable about Prevosts who thought I was NUTS to buy a 15 year old motorhome … being ignorant on the subject, if they knew what I spent on a 15 year old “motorhome” they probably would have initiated a competency hearing for me in family court.)
HJ, by now you’ve probably seen Forum members with coaches from the very early 90’s and even late 80’s posting about their coaches. These coaches, some nearing 30 years old are being regularly used as they should be. They are not up on blocks or sitting behind a barn or shop or house waiting for someone to make the tough decision to call the salvage yard to have it towed away.
I plan on owning, driving, and using our 1999 coach until I can’t or shouldn’t. Presuming that we keep it reasonably maintained and the various age limited items are kept up to date I expect to get a material portion of our original purchase price out of the coach when we sell it. While it would be nice to get something in the low six figures, I’m expecting higher five figures. Had we spent a similar amount of money on a newer high end plastic coach, given it similar maintenance, and owned it the same amount of time … I would expect to have lost a substantial portion of our investment to depreciation by the time it would be sold 10 to 15 years down the road. Much more than I’m expecting with our Prevost.
I hope I’m not telling anything out of school … George has described to me over the years the money he’s spent on plastic motorhomes and coaches before he saw the light about Prevost. If I had the money he spent on plastic depreciation, I’d probably give my money to Jon and Tom for running the Prevost Community.

I thought Johnny would have sold you Tom’s and put a dead one on his cord….I guess he is slipping.

Do you have any pictures of the finished project? Pam and I are thinking of updating the walls in the living room area to a wood venier/laminate. We want to remove the ultrasuede. I really dislike suede portions that have the out dated sconces on them. Arts and crafts style sconces on a wood panel is the goal.
