Without towing anything (I’m either single or trailer, no toad) it’s not an issue generally. Temps go up depending primarily on speed and ambient temp when I’m towing. My max speed is 75 and to hold no more than 260 I sometimes have to reduce speed to 70 or even 65. You can easily exceed 300 at 75 with a load and high ambient. I run full synthetic and have found it necessary to change every 20-30K miles.
Trans is not an issue except for retarder use.

I may go the way of Jon and say the heck with it.

George, the way I read your first post I was under the impression while driving the belts lost tension. I understand what you are saying now.
That belt tensioning system has at best been annoying. If it wasn’t the check valve it was the control valve, or it was the pressure regulator, or the fittings, or the air bellows themselves.
I finally gave up chasing problems and leaks and using scrap pieces of threaded rod from brake chambers I made a jack screw system to replace the air tensioning system and my problems are gone.

Our generators usually draw air from below the bus, so if we are traveling on highways getting heated by the sun, the air the generator needs for cooling can be very hot. When we are parked the ground beneath the bus is shaded by the bus so the generator cooling air is close to ambient temp.
A second consideration is baffling. All three of my coaches had various baffles intended to prevent the air heated by the radiator from returning to the air intake.

Well, I had to skip town for a week with little notice. I just got back to the Cadillac late last night. She still runs great. I’ll make those calls this week and see if I can move this project along.
John, I can see why you scooted out of Florida when you did – the heat and humidity are brutal in July! Perhaps I should shed a few pounds.

Good Sam has taken great care of my ’88 in the past. If Coach Net won’t Good Sam will!

Jeff,
Glad to have another North MS Featherlite owner onboard. I’ve had a Featherlite Vogue, a 2000 H3-45 and now a 2006 H3-45. Certainly not an expert, but am available to offer support. I can be reached at: Six62-3FourOne-Twenty-threehundred or wmbrooks@wmbrooks.com. Good luck.

Locate screws on the front of the seat base. Mine are hidden behind the skirt that is attached with velcro. Remove the screws and the seat base lifts off, exposing the frame and air fittings.

I did the same as Jim & Chris on my 1990 40′, 8V92, 8.25″ wide aluminum wheels in all positions. 315’s all the way around. I never had a problem in 7 years & 2 sets of them.

Ok !! We did a lot of troubleshooting this morning & determined that the problem was indeed the the amp & subwoofer under the couch…Thank you so much Pat… that was a worthy clue !!.. we removed the rear one from under the bed and installed it in the front and it’s working perfectly…
I too found one on Ebay and should have it in a few days… so that’s all good.
Thanks everyone for all your input… safe travels !!
Cheers, Diane
