I just saw some info on this yesterday. Seems that tire pricing is going up big time accross the board. Oil does play a factor in this as well as other items that are likely going up too.

Glad I got mine last summer!

To those of you who have the 10,000# hitches (especially on an 8V92 coach), please check them for cracks on a regular basis. Admittedly, I towed 12000# a lot of miles with my old coach but I ‘broke’ TWO hitches during my ownership period.

Thanks for all the good information as usual. I can’t believe I am about to spend the money but I knew if I took the deal on the Featherlite trailer I would have to upgrade. I was aware of the consequences of pushing over the limit and I am not willing to go that route. Everything you all said just confimed that.

I was coming to Prevost in Nashville anyway on Tuesday of this week so I called and they fit me in today (Monday) for the hitch upgrade. They were shipping the part from Jacksonville and it should arrive tomorrow. They have committed to getting it installed by the end of the week so I can drive to my next revival in Ellisville, Mississippi by Saturday.

I was already having the driver’s side window replaced and the air dryer serviced so they added the hitch and engine cradle in. The quote was higher than the service guy originally thought. $6500 is the estimate. I would be interested in how much Jacksonville charged Don last year if he would be comfortable sharing the information. If not, then I certainly understand that too.

I pulled the new-to-me Featherlite trailer here from Claremore, Oklahoma (under 10,000 lbs) and my wife drove the toad ahead. It was quite an adventure getting here but I will save that story for another post.

    Thanks again,

    DKO

If that Norgren filter bowl is clear plastic, I’ve replaced 2! They made a steel replacement for my application which I’ve now installed.

Looks like a good unit for the price. Any problems if there is a ground fault breakers at the post?

    Thanks,

Yes, to be safe, one must change out the engine cradle. A few years ago Prevost would sell the conversion “kit” to you direct. Don’t know if that is still possible. We purchased ours from Prevost in Jax. A really big job unless you have the right tools and a fair amount of mechanical knowhow. We took about two days in our shop. Five grand for the whole job sounds o.k. to me. FWIW.

Gary would you or anyone else reading this be interested in getting rid if the covers for the belts? I’d like to put them on mine and have been looking for them. Other than making my own, finding some take offs like yours would save me lots of time!

    Let me know…..and thanks!

Does your business have a home base? If so, where. How about a contact point for you, cell or email.

    John,

I just thought of a likely cause and this depends how major the service
was. To service certain items the tubes to the charge air cooler may
need to be removed. If one of clamps on the blue silicone hoses was left
lose or the boot was damaged it would leak boost. This would cause
black smoke under load (not enough air to the engine) and at idle there
needs to be a tiny amount of pressure on compressor side of the turbo,
if there isn’t the turbo compressor seal can leak engine oil into the
intake track. The smoke from burning engine oil usually has a blue tint,
but sometimes it’s hard to distinguish between the two types of smoke.
