RV PARK POWER SUPPLY TESTER
I want what the title says, a handheld tester I can plug in to rv park pedastel before hooking up to check function. I know I can use a multi-tester if I do several checks but I want something more user-friendly. I found a website for a product called ’50 Amp Powerpal” which is exactly what I want, but they have been unavailable for several months. Anybody out there can help?

This is the surge protector I use and before I plug my power cord in I plug this in. If the 4 lights are lit all is well. If not it shows the problem. Word of caution…….the lights are hard to see in bright sunlight.

I use the same surge protector that Jon has and it’s worked well for many years. Seems like the guys that bought the more expensive version with digital displays have had a bunch of problems and some are on their 2nd and 3rd replacement.

Looks like a good unit for the price. Any problems if there is a ground fault breakers at the post?

Some coaches trip GFCI receptacles, some will not. It depends on how the converter handles the connection to shore power and establishes a ground connection prior to the transfer switch letting shore power into the bus.
The surge protector has no affect.

I’ve ordered one. Question: Will this also function as a check/surge protector on 30 amp hookups if I come from the pedestal with a male 30 to female 50 into this unit?

Pure conjecture…………I would assume the surge protector functions as a protector based on the power into it, and not how the power is drawn downstream. Good question for the manufacturer.

So what do you use for polarity checking/surge protection on 30 amp hookups.?
I’ve never had an issue until my last trip into an OLD park with 30 only and I had a couple screwy things happen.

I cannot remember the last time I only had 30 amp power available. If I cannot get a campground with 50 amps I just dry camp and run the generator. I guess that makes me an energy snob.
