led rope type lighting
Have been experimenting with 300 led per 5meter(aprox 16 ft) led light it runs in the warm while light range and is about 160 lunes per meter. 12volt DC the 64 ft Ihave installed pulls 8 amps at 12vdc or approx 96 watts . You can use coach 12 volt current or a transformer to change shore power /inverter to 12 volt dc $40. Easily run as accent lighting is very flexible is about 3/8 wide about 3/16 thick and you can tie in knots. Dimmable. Buld life 50,000 hrs replace rope lighting? Bob

right now E-bay look for us shipper. they sell in the 5 meter length 600 per length and 300 the 600 are a little bright. and in severl light intensities. the soft white is more to my taste. the bright white is that. Cost abot 25% less online than at retail outlets. I pay on average about 20$ for a 5 meter (16.2ft long ) strip a little pricy. = 50,000 hrs life thinner more flexible that rope light—run off your battery—uses fraction of power. Hope this helps. All the led lights in my coach bays and all = one bus headlight which is 65 watt. thet also come in direct fixture replacements for halegon for about $4 each and last 50 times longer with no heat like the hot little burgers. That’s the light in the little round ones some have on ceilings again you need to look at lumes or first time buy couple differant kind. I like the flat round to replace the ceiling ones. Also have the spot type to replace halegon that I use through out . Hope this helps. Worth a little research. Bob

A lot of our coaches have 12 or 24 volt halogen lights. In addition for drawing a lot of current, they generate heat. A lot of heat.
I still have some replacement bulbs left, but when they are gone I am going to start the process of finding LED “bulb” replacements. If I lived in an ideal world my replacement would produce the same or more light, no heat, less current draw and be dimmable. It wouldn’t hurt if they were cheap because I have a ton of those lights. On my coach they are all over the ceiling, over the entry and dash, under cabinets, etc. I may have as many as 30 or 40.
Right now that is on my things to do list. There may be people lurking who can remember my posture regarding replacing coach exterior lighting with LEDs. My “incandescents forever” stance has not changed until I can see an improvement in quality on those. I notice a lot of the retro fit LED exterior lights have either failed or have collected water which precedes failure. I’m guessing my interior lights will not experience that problem. LED turn and brake lights do look neat when they “snap” on and off compared to incandescent which have a more gradual on-off operation.

you can buy waterproof. watch spec. also diaeltric grease helps. I changed my landscape lights over and have not had one fail in two years. before it was changing all the time at 4-6 a pop.In your ceiling spots- If you have the G-4 or G-6 base there are direct push in led replacements for your halegons. When I go up later I’ll try to get you some #’s will be 1/3 the cost of Lowes or Home depot in one case I paid $6 for one that was $24.95 at Lowes. I took it to the manager and ask why? It was apples to apples. but at lowes it was in a fancy plastic case that would hold 6 of the bulbs. It had one in it. Packing I guess. Bob

rope type plus dimmer and the round type like a coin is available in side pins and rear pins the flat postage stamp tyre in plug recepable is good undercounter.

I have been trying to find direct replacement for the 20 watt xenon bulbs as that is what I have but not found them, especially at the price you found. If possible please post the location, am really interested.
Posting pics on this site is very easy. Jon can walk you through it but just to the left of the You Tube sign above you will see a picture with a tree and the sun. Hit that, then hit the browse button to find your pic, then once you find the pic, hit okay and it will load it for you. Very easy compared to BCM site, no resizing, etc.

g-4 led 12volt play around with it g4 or g6 base are almost same. should be replacement out there. the wires on back are bendable to fit receptables of most sizes. The lights are neat to work with. easy to solder pig tales on little or no heat. If I get chance I’ll look around a little:: I think the zeon is what I replaced with these..Bob

lighting brightness is basic design in measured lumes. you design area for amount of light you need. In the salon area area it is walk around conservation dimmable to tv watching. about 160 lumes. If Judy wants to read we have dedicated controlled areas for that -those don’t interferr with the rest of the salon. Actuall 40% of salon is under seperate light supplementation if needed. No real big deal. Pictured were led at 300 per 5 meters of cool white–600 per 5 meter are actually more readily available. in bright white. make sure they are dimmable if you decide to try them. side note the led strip have self adhesive backs. They are able to be joined end to end /soldered are polarity sensitive/well marked cuttable every few inches. if I have extra I’ll send you a few feet to play with–You can buy a roll on ebay for 12.50 though to play with..On the bidding they usually go cheap. Try to stick with us shipper. had one bad luck with china shipper.–2 months. If you decide to use transformer in future I’d go at least twice advertised rating.–again experience and dimming seems to test transformers for some reason. sorry for rambling on. Bob
