Wow, what a problem that could have been, but that oil sure looks dirty (dark) must be the light. What kind is it?

Would a new engine on Prevost be bad luck?

Just adding some information to DKO’s post. Some members might be curious on why the Prevost techs turned the engine by hand prior to starting ? This was a very wise decision, believe me.
In some cases fluids leak into the combustion chamber. Normally the spray of diesel fuel is very fine mist..thus the bang forcing the piston down after compression inside the cylinder. The combustion chamber is made to handle this.
If a large amount of oil or coolant leak into the cylinder during the engine roll over the term used to explain what happens is often called ‘ hydraulic lock “.
Engine oil in this case would be compressed to the point that it pushes to the weak point internally during rollover inside the engine. Engine heads and gaskets, engine oil pans exploding have been known to come apart causing severe engine damage.
This Prevost tech would have not been the first to fall victim trusting automatic oil fillers to measure the correct oil level or lack of oil going into the engine.
Simple fool proof no brainer….. check the dip stick before engine restart. DKO you are one lucky guy as they were unable to start your bus.
By a lotto ticket.

Corey, that was my question… if the coach was repainted as it sure looked fresh and new.
What would make us appreciate the remodel even more are the ‘before’ pictures. They sure have done a beautiful job on that coach.
Safe travels,
Mark

Good information Dale & Lee, I had Silverleaf in a couple plastic coaches many moons ago and liked it. It was the VMS 120, I think, and dash mounted. Having this information on an Ipad would be great, but sounds like it not that good.

The park in Williams is pretty nice but it is adjacent to the mainline of a major railroad and long freights rumble through pretty regularly, including at night. Not quite “My Cousin Vinnie” but not very quiet either. If you are planning to get up early to hike the canyon or to see sunrise and/or sunset, it’s a lot more convenient to be in the park. When I was last there the steam train from Williams ran pretty limited hours. Of course you can drive your toad, but if I recall correctly its at least 45 minutes from Curry Village to Williams.
As you know if you have stayed there, Trailer Village in the park is kinda lumpy and uneven and can be crowded, but its the only game inside the park. They have spots that will fit your 45′ with 50amp.
We usually stay one or two nights in Williams, do the steam train, and then spend two nights in Trailer Village. You don’t want to miss those sunrises and sunsets!

Thanks for the information.
We have found companies that will build custom lifts but with major modifications to the bus. IF we put in a lift we want to do it with as little modifications as possible.

Joe how are the boards holding up with wear? Do they get scratched easy?

There has to be at least one discenter in the crowd. For the Florida folks the Tampa rally is a no-brainer and I would be surprised if any would opt for New Orleans when Tom and Jon will do such a fine job in Tampa. For those of us that travel long distances, especially from the west ie Texas and west, the fact that one can attend a rally in New Orleans and then have an ample 5 days to head for Tampa is just an added incentive for more fun. For me this doesn’t equate as a conflict but as an opportunity.
I am also thankful that disputes between the management of POG and PC are none of my business. Since many of us have good friends in both groups, if there are disagreements let them remain private and between those who can resolve the issues. Seems to me most of the membership have no dog in the fight.
