Grand Canyon
We are heading to Grand Canyon when we leave MCC in Indio… Any suggestions. We stayed at Trailer Village inside the park with our 40′ Dutchstar.. don’t think we want to take the Bus there…
Any suggestions?

Stay in Williams, AZ at the Grand Canyon Railway RV park and take the train up. Super nice park and the train is fun. You can also drive up to the canyon in the toad if you want. We have also stayed there several times while just passing through and the RV park is easy to get to and well designed.

The park in Williams is pretty nice but it is adjacent to the mainline of a major railroad and long freights rumble through pretty regularly, including at night. Not quite “My Cousin Vinnie” but not very quiet either. If you are planning to get up early to hike the canyon or to see sunrise and/or sunset, it’s a lot more convenient to be in the park. When I was last there the steam train from Williams ran pretty limited hours. Of course you can drive your toad, but if I recall correctly its at least 45 minutes from Curry Village to Williams.
As you know if you have stayed there, Trailer Village in the park is kinda lumpy and uneven and can be crowded, but its the only game inside the park. They have spots that will fit your 45′ with 50amp.
We usually stay one or two nights in Williams, do the steam train, and then spend two nights in Trailer Village. You don’t want to miss those sunrises and sunsets!

I didn’t mention the trains because it didn’t bother us, but then we tend to sleep like the dead so not much bothers us…
It really isn’t that bad…..
