As long as a truck pulls up to the line, which most do I can pull up far enough to fuel. Some that set back a ways require me to come within a few inches of their trailer, but so far I haven’t had to get anyone to move forward.

At 55,000 lbs. pulling our toad, we are getting anywhere between 6.2-7 depending on the terrain. On l-o-n-g stretches of flat highway, we can get 7.5 easy.
Most of us probably don’t worry too much about mileage but the mileage can tell us a story if something is going on with the coach. I run a ‘pencil to paper’ calculation to see what is going on (Hey, I’m a Taurus and like to know the numbers).
If we get a sudden drop in mileage, that could signal a problem.
Stay safe out there!

Congrats, Tom! Your choice of another Marathon, and of a 2004 H single slide, once again demonstrates impeccable taste, and an eye for refined things. Back in the day, I would try to tap into your vast Marathon knowledge, and after I became obnoxious, you would point out that your Marathon was of a different year, and therefore you could not provide advice. But now? Gotcha on speed dial, brother!
Let me know if you have any questions about your slide. It works well, but there are some nuances.

C’bus, The Godfather’s memory isn’t what it used to be, he went from his non slide Liberty to slides kicking and screaming. I remember the various comments poo pooing non riveted coaches, delam and slides.
I think he’s now shopping for an IPhone.

Thanks a lot Wave..I will give him a call…Jeff also mentioned he may have one lying around and we’re headed to Vonore in the next week or so.

Art,
Tom is likely counting dues money right now trying to figure out how much to not send me this billing cycle. Because he reads all the threads and posts like I do I have no doubt he is on this potential to sell batteries like stink on a skunk as soon as he puts the money in a glass jar and buries it.
I think you can email him because I think his email on his posts is enabled, but you can also send him an email that he will get via the PC Admin email.

I admit the electrical connection that Liberty installed for the Jenn-air outdoor grill is somewhat mystifying. The manual for the unit states a three wire single phase, AC 120/240 volt or 120/208 volt 60 cycle electrical system must be provided in accordance with NFPA No. 70 electrical code.
I wish I took a picture of this connection before I disconnected it….but there are definitely 6 wires that were removed…two black, two white and two green. Wish I could provide more detail but that’s all I have.
Rightly or wrongly I can only assume the 120/208 volt receptacle is wired like a standard 120/240 volt receptacle…..but the logic escapes me.
-
Careful. The receptacle is a 3 phase receptacle but our buses (both shore power and generator) use a single 240V split phase, i.e. 2 x 120V 180 degrees out of phase, not three phases. This looks like a “custom” install.
Are you sure the grill is 240V? It would not work if you connected the bus to 30A outlet.

All,
Thank you for your responses to my question.

The bearing “tang” is in the right place for rod bearings.

I was taught 56 years ago that when you hook your safety chains on, they should always go under the tow bar and criss cross making an X. We were actually towing a boat on the car but the principal still sticks with me. Left trailer to right car, right trailer to left car for the safety chains. This way, if the boat would come off the hitch, the safety chains make a nice pocket where the trailer would fall onto the chains still pulling the boat and not let the trailer drag along the ground.
Maybe the same principal holds true for a toad and the coach, maybe not. I still criss cross my safety chains under the tow bar. If nothing else, I think it looks better and my father won’t look down and scold me.
