Thanks Don for the advice, I will follow up on that. My original pair of Freedom 2500 have been replaced. I now have two inverters, a Magnum 2500 that is about one year old and a Xantrex 3000 that is about 4 years old.

    Ditto on what Dick said.

I used a trailer to transport cars for a while and it was equipped with multiple methods of securing a car. After a very short period of time however it was abundantly clear I had to be really in need of a trailer to ever want to tow one behind the coach.

I am spoiled in that towing a vehicle 4 wheels down has become the standard by which I measure every other method of bringing stuff with us. Nothing is quicker or easier. Every time I would load the trailer I was made painfully aware of how much of a hassle it is to get a car in, get a car out, get in and out of the car and finally to secure the car.

Some vehicles were a snap to load. My Model A was so small I could drive it in and then get in and out of it as easily as if it was parked on the street. Securing it was also very easy because it sat high and it was quite easy to strap down. Despite the ease of strapping I still ended up laying on the trailer floor fishing the straps over the chassis members and trying to keep my hands and clothes clean.

Other cars were increasingly more difficult for a variety of reasons. My 50 Ford was not as easy to enter or exit and since it sat lower securing the straps was more time consuming. A Mercedes SL600 was a bitch. I had no option but to run the straps over the tires, which was OK but then I had to insure the straps and ratchet mechanism would not come in contact with the body which literally wrapped around the tires.

Despite the trailer being a beaver tail the ramp approach angle would have required me to add planking on at least two of my cars to get the nose of the car up before it hit the ramp. The pitch over would not have caught the center of the car but getting the nose in the air before it hit the ramp was an added job.

Then there is the added work of trying to keep the trailer clean. When towing 4 down the toad gets dirty. When it rains it gets filthy. But a trailer will also and it is a lot bigger than any toad and especially if it is a tall trailer.

If I absolutely had to use a trailer it would have a very great impact on getting ready for a trip. From hooking up to loading to adding one more item to maintain I would give very serious thought to the question of what I wanted to bring before the use of a trailer even entered my mind. This says nothing about the impact of hauling the extra weight. The only advantage is if I had a trailer I could back into any space without ever unhooking.

Hey Jeff you mentioned using a exterior charger! Do I need to unhook each battery separately and charge individually with 12 volt low amp charger? Between 2 to 7 amps? Or is another way you suggest. It has 4 batteries over each wheel housing on both sides. I tried the fast idle last night for about an hour and the function display panel for lights and accessories barely lite up but still could not cut on inverters!

    Les,

I personally would have no reservations about a 2006 CC, as Jeff pointed out, all can be updated if needed.

First, thank you to everyone that responded trying to help me trace down the source of this problem. Jeff Rowe solved it once I was able to get it to him.

As was pointed out in the thread, the high idle needs to see the bus is in neutral and the parking brake is on. My parking brake dash indicator light would not illuminate but I could not figure out why.

There are three relays on the ceiling of the lower compartment under the driver’s seat. One of those relays is in the loop that signals the parking brake is “on”. That relay was bad.

Here is a twist. There are 24 volts to that relay and it is supposed to be a 24v relay in the socket. The relay that failed was a 12v relay. It has obviously been there a long time. I have owned the bus 10 years and only three guys have worked in that compartment besides me and Jeff’s shop. Those three guys quickly repaired air leaks and were done.

So I know that relay has been there at least 10 years. It held the 24 volts but eventually burned out. Could it have been a misplaced relay since the bus was built in 1995?

Jeff replaced the bad relay with a 24v and the high idle worked immediately! The high idle “stick” has now been retired!

Thanks again for your help and thanks to Jeff Rowe.

Something that should never have been in the air intake not only came in contact with the turbo, it ended up rattling around in there.

That is the kind of damage that has no limits because the next thing in line after the pieces of metal start to come apart is the engine intake manifold. From there it can damage valves and valve seats, score cylinder walls, break rings and generally convert an engine into a boat anchor.

It could have been a fastener that got into the inlet to the turbo, a stone that got past the air filter, maybe a piece of the wire mesh that supports the air filter paper element or maybe part of a diamond shipment being smuggled in the coach into the US.

Expensive damage but it looks like the tip of the iceberg.

I was just doing research on what type and brand coolant I was going to put in the bus. I found that Old World Industries (the makers of peak)are the same makers of DD Power Cool,DD Power Cool Plus, Fleet Charge and Final Charge. Fleet Charge being DD Power Cool and Final Charge being DD Power Cool Plus. So if you’re looking for what DD recommends this is their first choice. Most supply houses that carry truck supplies will have these. NAPA is one of the places that carry Fleet Charge and Final Charge so use your discount card to get a good deal on your coolant

Chad, The last option Med Emergency Help probably should have a slash and read Med Emergency / Help (i.e. Any help) That is where I listed. I listed in the bottom box (Description) “Any assistance” as I have 50 plugs, ramps, some tools, parking, telephone(both flip and smart) Vet close by, etc.

If you updated it then you switched networks, did you go back and have it reconnect to the coach? Does it show that it is connected ? If so then you also may need to go to the app store and do a update for the crestron app. We havent heard of any issues with this update however a lot of them we dont have them do the updates because several years ago a update caused issues, and with the purple crestron app is no longer supported so it can cause the system not to work and require updating it with program to make it work…

Ours will burp back if the fill is slower than wide open. Especially with the truck pumps. I now always pump full throttle and haven’t had a burp in a while.
