  • Trash Compactor

Posted by Larry & Diane on August 7, 2018 at 4:09 pm

My trash compactor drive screw trunnion nut ( it’s Nylon) stripped out…I don’t think a lot of folks use their compactors but I do all the time as I have a sink disposal for the smelly stuff..I only put cans and paper products in it and it last a whole trip for us.

Does anyone have one they are not using that I can maybe use for parts ??

They don’t make this size anymore and no parts are available anymore.

    Thanks in advance.

I think Dave Wall at Liberty (Motorhome Exchange) will have some around his place. Wine coolers are the rage right now – they slide right in that TC space . I know he had my 2002 compactor a few months ago.

Thanks a lot Wave..I will give him a call…Jeff also mentioned he may have one lying around and we’re headed to Vonore in the next week or so.

I did end up calling Liberty and talked with parts and they said they thought they had one “out the back” that was working when removed and he would check and call me back.

He called back a few minutes later saying yes it was still there and he could ship what ever I needed to me… so I opted for the “guts” only and he shipped it that day for $24.95 shipping only NO charge for the trouble or part… wow…I was impressed by the kindness.

It arrived in a few days and weighed a ton.. couldn’t believe how heavy it was… my guy got it into the bus and thank goodness we had Jeff take the compactor out while we were there as we couldn’t figure it out or see those hidden screws….he put 2 screws back in to secure it for the trip home… as it turned out this unit was a newer model than mine but a perfect fit for replacement…I knew it was newer as the nylon bolt in this one was metal and much sturdier unit overall… we were lucky as it did fit perfectly… just removed the bolts unplugged the lines and replaced all and “voila” like a new unit.

So folks … many thanks to Liberty in Stuart …. they went beyond the call of duty…I am a very happy camper.

We use this unit for all dry paper goods cans bottles etc… one bag lasts us the whole trip wherever we go..I have a sink disposal for everything else.

    Life is good !!

    Cheers, Diane
