Caney Creek RV Resort is west of Knoxville on I-40 near Kingston/Harriman. They have some easy pull through sites. They are about 20 miles west of the I-75/I-40 interchange including 4 miles of easy not interstate. It is not a cheap stop, but it is gated and right on the lake. If your are strictly on I-75 it would be 40 miles out of your way.

Of course, also a ways off I-75 is East Tennessee Country Club Spa and Resort in Vonore. It is nice for dry parking lot camping, plus you can get your oil changed for a reasonable price.

I’ve said it before, but will repeat it. I am sure Prevost does a fair job of servicing a coach, but there is so much detail required when doing a service I think their service is nothing more than a good starting point.

This is especially true for those who think an annual service is adequate.

It is amazing at the number of small details that need to be checked or performed during a service to keep a coach reliable and in good condition. Jim accurately recognizes that even items on a maintenance schedule get ignored or overlooked and simple inspections ranging from checking the condition of hoses for wear or aging, draining air tanks in sequence, checking for play in the steering linkages, verifying items like coolant and transmission fluids are not due for change, inspecting for leaks, including hub seals, and even looking at the inside of tires not normally seen unless the coach is on a lift are important but time consuming tasks.

None of the Prevost service schedules include converter service items such as the generator. All underside baffles need to be checked to make sure they are in place and not damaged. Air conditioning filters are often overlooked. The list goes on.

The air line replacement was interrupted by life, but i finished it up before traveling today. I ran the new line and all the connections are good. One thing I did not do was include an in line shut off valve. No one had one.

The kit of fittings Threegreens posted looks like a good deal now that I have purchased a few fittings. I purchased 5 brass 1/4″ brake nuts, 5 brass sleeves (Is that the correct name?) and five brass unions. Grand total? $44.

    Thanks for the help.

Jimmy, here is how I dealt with Equal, slow leaks, Schrader valves, etc.

First, every purchase of Equal had a Schrader valve with the filter supplied with it as part of the purchase. The filter is intended to keep small pieces of balancing media from getting into the valve seat and causing a slow leak. If you remove the Schrader valve if it has the filter it will be seen on the back side as a miniature small screen. The only way to know it has the screen is to remove it.

But in the absence of pressure pro type sensors leaks can be mitigated by the use of “fill through the cap” valve stem caps. Even if a valve leaks all tires should have a sealed cap so leaks through the Schrader valve are stopped. If you remove a cap that is not the type that allows filling without removing and the Schrader valve is leaking you will hear a slight hiss to alert you the Schrader valve is leaking.

Keep in mind, even without Equal Schrader valves can and will leak. So no matter how you balance the tires you need some type of valve stem cap. The fill through the valve cap is ideal because it is a double seal against leakage through the stem.

But if you have Equal and do not have Sensors for a TPMS the best way to insure a seal every time is to use a tire fill valve that also has a tire pressure gauge as part of it. I use that type and would check pressure, and then before pulling it off the valve stem I gave a short blast of air into the tire. If any foreign matter was on the valve seat the blast of air cleaned it off and no leakage occured.

Keep in mind however if you have a TPMS the Schrader valve is ALWAYS open and if you have a slow leak, look at the seal at the sensor or somewhere else on the tire such as a slow leak around a nail in the tire.

It is really easy to blame slow leaks on Equal, sensors, or phases of the moon, but if there is a slow leak it cannot be ignored and if need be get some soapy water and start looking for bubbles after it is sprayed on the suspected areas.. I have had more leaks at where the valve stem comes through the wheel than anywhere else.

We are almost at 3700 members, but only a very small percentage have signed up for the program.

We have less than 500 showing as registered for the program, and of those some are not registered because of how our Admin program views some as participants. We really don’t know the precise number, but it is a very small percentage and not all who actually are members use the program.

If we had a large percentage of participants, and flowed a lot of gallons we would be in a very good position to improve our offerings to members.

If there was a picture I could not pull it up.

On my coach of similar vintage I had a power steering reservoir where you describe. Does it have a threaded plastic cap on the main large domed cover?

Hello all! Hard to believe that Fall is here already. I hope a lot of you fit in some good touring over the summer. I had a few great trips including spending some time in the Watkins Glen area of NY. If you have never been make sure you put it on a future schedule. It is a beautiful place.

This February we will have a great event in Lakeland, FL. Prevost is a main sponsor this year. We are negotiating now on some nationally recognized talent for one evenings entertainment. For the first time in years we are also not on the Daytona 500 weekend. This should again allow us to host some of the main manufactures in the industry.

I will use this forum to post all of the upcoming updates as they happen. This weekend is our last event in Carlisle for the season. This will allow our entire team to focus on AutoFest and the Air and Coach Concours. Also, please feel free to post your thoughts and suggestions here. Many of you have joined us in the past and have participated in many of our offered activities over the years. If you have any suggestions on what we should add to agenda, just let us know. Also, if you have any ideas from other events please don’t hesitate to mention them.

Sign-up is going well and I am optimistic that we will have the largest turnout yet for our 7th edition!

I am headed south next week and I will be stopping at the Prevost Community Seminar on my way to FL. I hope to see some of you there! For now I’m back to work at Fall Carlisle!

    Safe Travels,

Our Amana has made it through 24 years, and we feel lucky. But in two days it will be traded, along with the rest of the bus and we’ll probably never know how long it lasted.

The responses above were right on target. When you engage the jake on a slippery surface you give up control of the forces applied to the drive axle. Both the cruise and jake are going to do what is asked of them, regardless of the condition of the road surface until you disengage them.

If the jake or cruise exerts too much power, either driving or braking and the rear of the coach loses traction you cannot react as you normally would without first having to disengage the jake or cruise.

Gil installed his led tail lights on mine at clawfest 2018. Looks and functions very well. He also got me to buy the led high center brake light that flashes 5 times before it goes solid.

I bought these the last time they were on sale – they are much brighter than the previous halogens. If they fit your bus I’d go for it!
