Correct me if I’m wrong. It is my understanding that on the 8V92 the 50DN is gear driven and in a difficult location to work on?

If that’s true? I wouldn’t be surprised if a “smarter than the average bear” previous owner did as you describe. 🙁

I sent Roadmaster an email asking for more information and letting them know there are toads other than the Wrangler, such as a GC.

    Will close the loop.

Magic appeared in the form of Dave Lee. In his post he references his experience with the large XL II removal in one piece. And then I did correspond with him directly to calm my nerves. He is the man.

Key for me was to begin at the bottom as Dave suggested. I used a portapower gently on a chunk of 4×4 to keep pressure on the inside. Top start as recommended by Prevost impossible, of course. Only caveat is that when working on the bottom of the rubber gasket (which takes a while), once things begin, gravity takes over. Large, strong grandson very helpful at that point but happens quickly so be ready.

    Thank you Dave Lee. Mike

Truk, you and Nancy can caravan with us any time. We like the two of you and don’t care what you drive! Don’t understand it, but don’t care. Geo.

‘potty closet’ haha … hadn’t heard that one. Yeah, I’m willing to compromise on the ‘toilet in the hall’

At 8500 hours, unless the generator was abused, that generator has reached about 20 to 25% of its expected life. Is the generator broke?

Looks to me that it was not tires nor the engine. Rear cap appears to be intact, what you can see of it, and engine access door appears not to be destroyed. Looks like last bay on D.S. is really melted, so that could be a/c related, or something in a bay that started it. At this point, we don’t know so I guess it is somewhat pointless to speculate, but that is what I am seeing. Maybe someone will post more pics and we can find out more.

Great idea. I follow the same procedures with our power cord and plug and don’t like getting the plug curb side and back. I’ll make a similar cover.

Mark … back in the 90’s and early 2000’s I think one of the differences between a Liberty Elegant Lady and a Classic Coach was the curb/pax side 50amp female outlet. We have a curb/pax side 50amp outlet on our coach. I carry a nice, clean, never used cord with the twist-lock female plug in the back closet. Rather than drag it out and get it dirty, I pass the primary cord under the coach. Someday I’ll use the fancy cord to plug the coach into the transfer switch at home when the power goes out or if the primary cord is too short to a curb side outlet, or if we need an extension cord to a distant shore power station.
