I have no clue what seals work best but over the years I have replaced around six on my coaches plus a couple on other coaches. None has ever leaked and I do not know why replacements would leak if they are installed properly.

The key is to press or tap the seal into the hub and then verify the inner seal is rotating freely within the outer portion.

I watched a “mechanic” once try to hammer one in cockeyed and asked him to remove it and carefully insert it in the hub evenly all around. That got his nose all bent out of shape. He posts on another site.

    Dean,

When Carole and I were considering a Prevost, we were hearing stories about problems with sldies not retracting when it was time to travel, seals leaking water and air. We bought a no slide ride and have no regrets about that decision. I will admit that in 2008 we were put through a test. We did a 7,000 mile trip around the US. Starting in NC straight to San Diego, I had a work gig out there. Then up the 5 all the way to Portland Oregon. There is no beach at Jockey Beach! Rest a while then off across the upper tier of states and down to Kansas City before a stop in Evansville, Indiana. After that Nashville Tenneessee and on home to NC. Now our test was would we still be married after this trip in a 102″ x40′ Prevost. Well yes, I am happy to say we are now working on year 46 and still enjoying the no slides life.

We had tons of fun just going places and looking at candidate coaches. So the fun is also in the hunt not just the purchase. Come to Branson and enjoy seeing a lot of different coaches all in one place. Keeps the mileage low on your car!

    Hi Alicia

i used the card at Loves in Troutdale OR. The pump would not accept the card, kept asking for a fuel permit number. Went inside and they unlocked the pump. They said to use license number next time. Is this specific to Oregon?

    Richard.

    Worry not.

Think about this: A seated coach has no provision for airing up prior to starting up so when they sit for a long period and the aux pressure goes to zero and the belts go slack, the driver just fires the coach up and once air pressure builds he is good to go.

Unless I am working on my coach or it has been run recently after sitting for weeks I have no aux pressure. I never air it up with my shop air. I just start the engine, let it idle for a period of time, go to fast idle and watch the pressures build. I have never had a belt issue.

Your coach should have a check valve ahead of the belt tension release valve. If that isn’t working very well your belt tensioners will lose pressure as the aux system loses pressure. A common problem is the regulator or the belt tensioner valve will leak. The regulator leak might be corrected by tightening the screws around the housing. But even if you don’t correct the leak don’t worry about loose belts.

Overfilling a transmission is something to be avoided. Generally if it is overfull it tends to heat up which is contrary to what you would think.

sorry I still can not tell what brand of combination, looks like a “private Lable” style dial.

I can say for sure the “top” (right) mark is the mark to use for opening.

The other mark is for changing the combination numbers.

I would have thought the orginal turn sequence would have worked.

Might call the mfg to sak what the turn sequence is.

@Threegreens – If they are the 1987-1991 Ford truck type, I believe I have two new reflectors at the shop. I will look when I go out there in the morning. If I find them, just pay me back the shipping and you can have them. The ones I have, have the chrome trim around the outer edge. Let you know later Sunday.

Sounds like Donnie Meyer is the over whelming choice. I have also herd from other people that Mellenium Coach did good work on Fetherlite Coahes but maybe not on AMX.

I confess that my pea brain can’t understand all of what is being discussed in this thread and I’m sorry to interrupt this erudite conversation, but did anyone else notice that Paul’s boat or former boat was struck by lightning TWICE? Considering the natural law that has already been broken, does that mean that it is a good idea to stand near Paul during a thunderstorm, or a bad one? Ok, back to the inverters…

    Jim,

The new hose looks great! It looks like other hoses were moved. What really caught my eye though is where’s the engine computer?
