newbie with question
Hello
We are Newmar owners (coach is for sale) looking to purchase our first Prevost. We live in Springfield, Mo so we are less than an hour from Branson. We would like to crash your party (just for a day) and look at some of the buses and maybe get a few questions answered. Wanted to check and see if that would be alright. Tuesday would be the day we would like to visit as we are currently scheduled to leave for Tennessee on Wednesday. I look forward to hearing back.

So very many options out there and so many people willing to share their views with you.
We all have our “must have” lists… a Prevost is nothing like a plastic coach we went from 4 slides to 2 slides and gave up some bells and whistles … sacrificed a lot (so we thought at the time) to get the finest ride on wheels… nothing like a Prevost…you will know what you like when you step in the one that “feels right” for you !!

Dean, A word of caution here, I to was a newmar owner “Essex” Stopped by at a rally in fla on an invite, the damnest thing happened, we were looking at some of the coaches for sale when we walked in to this one coach she looked at me and I looked at her we knew this was the coach we belonged in. I loved that Essex 2007 bought it new, traded for a 2005 H Liberty It just feels right! to be in this coach, So beware the purse snatchers!

Thanks for the response. We are working in our must haves. I’d like to look seriously at some no slide coaches before ruling them out. We like to go a lot and I hate how closed up ours is while going down the road. I also really like the stainless but certainly see the storage advantages of the H. I guess there’s still a lot to figure out but that should be the fun part. Look forward to meeting some of you next Tuesday and thanks in advance for your help.

Dean and Heidi, We’d love to see you guys Tues in Branson(or longer). Because we’re travelers and not sitters and don’t have a large dog, we actually prefer a non-slide coach. The right floor plan/layout can provide more than ample room and storage. Everything in a coach is in some respect a compromise. You get nothing without giving up something. How you plan to use your coach should determine what you want/need in a particular unit, then you begin to prioritize from that point. Find us and we’ll show you a non-slide with a side aisle, roof tops and CC OTR AC that gives you the maximum amount of inside and basement room and storage. Looking forward to meeting the two of you.

Not sure what your looking for but if Panterra is there (Randy) and Legacy (Brandon) they had 2 nice ’04 XLII’s at the Nashville show. One was a Royale and one was a country coach and they seemed to be priced right.

Corey is correct in two ways. To get something in a coach you are going to give up something. But he is also correct in stating that a non-slide coach has a much more open and spacious interior when going down the road.
If you are serious about stepping up to a Prevost (even an older one that most conventional RVs is likely a step up) start with a budget, then be very honest about how you will use it, because that leads to your wants and needs. A coach that is used to travel more than stay in one spot is a completely different animal when it comes to how it should be set up.
But if the coach is used less for travel, but spends a lot of its time in an RV resort the emphasis will be on other things than on a coach that spends most of its time traveling.
Take the time to read the articles and get familiar with the coaches that are currently listed for sale. Then get on the forum and ask questions. Lots of them. Learn to recognize brand loyalty and objective answers. Don’t be afraid to challenge answers and information no matter who offers it. There are reasons why there are variations in the conversions that are out there. There are reasons why what you know will work for you may not be acceptable for someone else. Only you can measure the value of specific coaches and features. But if you buy based on emotion you might be depriving yourself of a coach ideal for your purposes.
Here are a few things to consider………All coaches depreciate, the older ones less than the newer ones, but with an older coach you spend more money on maintaining it.
Not all options are available on all coaches. For example you cannot get over the road air on certain conversions or coaches with more than 2 slides.
The “sweet spot” for mileage is mid to late 90’s Series 60 coaches. Over 7 mpg is the norm. EGR coaches are 6 mpg or less.
The H3 has significantly more bay space than the XL or XLII.
Delamination on XLII coaches has been blown out of proportion, but a buyer of an XLII has to recognize it is or could be an issue and have a pre-buy inspection done and negotiate if needed on how to handle repairs if needed.
A buyer MUST do a comprehensive pre-buy inspection and if possible get at least a couple of days of training on the coach.

We owned a triple slide Beaver before we bought our Liberty Coach. We were thrilled to be SLIDE FREE at last!
Since we liked to spend extended periods of time in “travel mode” the absence of slides was a significant advantage to us. We were just as comfortable at a fuel stop or rest area as we were in the most elegant resorts.

When Carole and I were considering a Prevost, we were hearing stories about problems with sldies not retracting when it was time to travel, seals leaking water and air. We bought a no slide ride and have no regrets about that decision. I will admit that in 2008 we were put through a test. We did a 7,000 mile trip around the US. Starting in NC straight to San Diego, I had a work gig out there. Then up the 5 all the way to Portland Oregon.There is no beach at Jockey Beach! Rest a while then off across the upper tier of states and down to Kansas City before a stop in Evansville, Indiana. After that Nashville Tenneessee and on home to NC. Now our test was would we still be married after this trip in a 102″ x40′ Prevost. Well yes, I am happy to say we are now working on year 46 and still enjoying the no slides life.
We had tons of fun just going places and looking at candidate coaches. So the fun is also in the hunt not just the purchase. Come to Branson and enjoy seeing a lot of different coaches all in one place. Keeps the mileage low on your car!

Dean, we are newbies attending our first Prevost rally. We have no slide ownership experience but love the open feeling going down the road with no views blocked. You are very welcome to see our 2002 CC. We updated the interior and couldn’t be happier . Hope to see you in Branson.

Wow!!! Thank you all so much for the warm welcome, great Insight, advice and the offers to let us see your buses. We will look forward to not only meeting you but appreciatively taking you up on your offers. The good news…we have reached an agreement with an individual on the purchase of our current coach. We should close on the deal by the end of this month. Due to this development we are going to cancel our trip to Tennessee that was scheduled for Oct 16-20. Because of this we will not be limited to only coming to Branson on Tuesday. Give us some extra flexibility.
